4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid ram that stays fairly cool, all four sticks working correctly without any need for a RMA

Cons: System doesn't stay stable if overclocked to 2400, and refuses to post if overclocked to 2133, neither of which are overly important to me though I could have went far cheaper if I'd not intended on an easy overclocking experience.

Other Thoughts: May or may not be the ram itself but four eggs is still a solid rating for a solid product, it's nothing over the top so I don't feel it deserves the fifth egg but they do the job.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great... Looks Great in case...

Pros: I always shop for Kingston first. I bought Kingston sticks for two builds in 2009 that went bad almost two years latter. No problem. The mfg replaced them with newer and better memory. Not everyone stands behind their products. My experience is that Kingston makes good products and has coustomer service.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsMemory not 2400

Pros: Decent price and nice packaging

Cons: I could not get the memory to run more than a few hours at 2400 without errors. I was using MemTest86 v4.2 to burn it in. The motherboard was the Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (also new)/ So the MB could be the problem as well. The memory ran for several days at 2133 without errors. I am using an I7 Ivy Bridge CPU: BX80637I73770K, so it is not just a Sandy Bridge issue.

Other Thoughts: I'm trying to decide whether or not to RMA it. Now that Newegg shows it as being Discontinued...I think I should.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. We can troubleshoot with you make sure the proper settings are being used or if need be process a warranty replacement. Also, according to the motherboard's manual it recommends for overclocking that one module being installed in slot DDR3_B2 or two modules be installed in slots DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2 for "optimal stability and compatibility". It does not mention overclocking with all four modules installed, so it is possible there would be a stability issue with all four modules overclocked at 2400. May want to confirm with the motherboard manufacturer if that would be an issue or try it with two modules and see if the errors continue at 2400. If you would like us to troubleshoot or process a warranty replacement, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsProperly Named!

Pros: Even though my mobo is rated for only up to 1866 it had no problem reading and setting this memory at 2400.

Cons: Only problem that I had was my mobo would improperly set the timing. I don't know 100% if it is a problem with mobo or RAM, but what matters is that it works when set properly.

Other Thoughts: I do not like to modify the FSB for overclocking so I am stuck at 2400 with this memory. I am running an APU and the faster the memory the more bandwidth I get. Although the memory is friendly to over-volting and has no trouble running faster then rated timings!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Ram

Pros: Fast and stable. Runs at advertised speed of 2400 Mhz.

Cons: was not free, doesn't make me coffee.

Other Thoughts: Great Ram and Great Price. Excuse the negative reviews about the ram not running at 2400 Mhz. You need an IVY BRIDGE CPU TO SET XMP TO 2400 Mhz...sorry sandybridge users. Also if you can't boot at 2400 Mhz....Adjust the voltage back down to 1.65v....This Is the REAL DEAL 2400Mhz Ram. Also, You need Either Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro to utilize all your ram. Home premium editions have a 16 Gb Ram Limitation where as Win Pro Has a 192 Gb Limit.

MSI Z77A-G45 Thunderbolt
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge

OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SATA III (SSD)
ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B CPU Cooler..doesn't block RAM AND Will NEVER LEAK!!
