1 out of 5 eggsLook elsewhere

Pros: Alot of ports and looks cool

Cons: Support on this unit is non existant and according to the manufacture isn't fully supported by Win 7 64. No documentation on cable pinouts and the audio cable was pinned out so if using a single ring mic could blow out the sound card from pushing the mic bias voltage to ground. Also doesn't fully support full HD audio. The resistor network is missing thus you have to tell your sound card to ignore that feature. For the money this unit costs it should be done properly.

1 out of 5 eggsA disappointment

Pros: It somewhat works.

Cons: I purchased this guy because I wasn't happy with CF read speeds on a similar unit from Rosewill. 2Mb/s on a modern card is a joke. I see speeds of 20Mb/s+ on the same cards on external USB ImageMate CF reader.
Well.. on this unit I get same low speeds. Why do they need 4USB ports if beyond me. If they wanted to make a slow device - might as well have put a USB hub in it.
Audio from motherboard works but the sound card doesn't auto-detect when headphones are plugged in.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone. For faster card reader speed, you should get the FP35.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Work

Pros: It is an excellent reader for the money and have had no issues at all for the last two years till....

Cons: I upgraded to Win7, and SilverStone does not have a Win 7 driver let alone a Vista driver for this product...be warned, In 7 the system recognizes the device but when trying to enable it, it is lacking the coprocessor driver to make it funtion

3 out of 5 eggsWont read everything

Pros: Looks nice in my Lian Li case and has all the card types you would want to fit in it.

Cons: Wont read my 4 GB SD memory card.

Other Thoughts: I rated it at 3 eggs because it wont read my 4GB SanDisk Extreme III SD memory card and doesnt have any firmware or driver updates.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems all right

Pros: Unit has a solid build feel to it, and the wires were adequate to reach to the MB ports. I was able to hook up all ports except one Fire Wire. Ports and Card Reader were all identified in Windows Vista 64 after connecting, with their respective alphabet names. This seems to be an almost perfect solution to having an accessable "front panel" and it looks perfect in my Lian-Li Black Computer Case.

Cons: It seems my microphone port does not work, but it could be a soundcard problem. It would have been nice to have had some plastic dust covers to have on the open slots when you are not using the card reader.

Other Thoughts: I am thinking of buying another one, for my other computer. This seems so well built, compact, unobtrusive and functional. I would suggest bundling the various cables together with tie wraps or other to route to the MB ports. There are seven separate cables here. (Sound, 2 Fire Wire, and 2 USB). Also, if this is a new build, make sure you do not hook the ports up to the Motherboard until you have Windows up and running. You do not want your USB port to mistakenly show up as "C" drive, as has been known to happen.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well, but could be built better

Pros: About 3 time faster than what I used before.
Lots of extras: has 2 full size USB connectors + 1 mini USB; audio, and Firewire, in addition to the card slots.

Cons: Cables are short and without any strain relief, so they pull out very easily. When that happens you'll need to disassemble the unit to put them back. Rough finish: cut my finger on a sharp edge of the enclosure.

Other Thoughts: A bit pricey for the low grade construction

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I purchased this reader to replace an aging Apacer reader. It was relatively easy to install and the unit worked first time out of the box on a Vista Ultimate build. This reader also reads and writes the new SDHC standard even though it is not specifically listed.

Cons: Care should be taken when installing the device not to accidently pull the wires from the back of the unit. Prior to installation, I used a cable tie to secure the wires to my 5 1/4 to 3 1/2 adaptor used in my system. This eliminated the problem for me.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat product

Pros: does what it says, reads mem cards and flash drives, but really i only needed it for the USB ports.

Cons: Not really a complaint but the way they did the sleeving the one wire is bare and makes the brading around the cable, i was going to cut the sleeving off because i'm wanting to redo it but now that i have seen that i won't be able to without cutting the wire and replacing it.
