3 out of 5 eggsWorks but

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do - at least for a little while.

Cons: Cheaply made. Cables are attached inside the reader with headers and some of them are even glued (USB, IEEE 1394) but sooner or later they just fall off.

Other Thoughts: Owned this for 2 years now and I've had to take it out of the case and take it apart 3 times. Whenever a card or drive won't read, inevitably there is a cable unnattached inside the reader. Unnaceptable for a computer that sits in the same place day after day. I finally got tired and super glued everything and it's been no problem for about a year now.

1 out of 5 eggsgood while it lasted, find a better brand

Pros: lots of features

Cons: The card reader is not working anymore, I know its the reader since I have tried multiple cards and devices. I would highly suggest buying a better brand and avoid no name companies.

Other Thoughts: How hard is it to use a usb interface? You have 4 wires to deal with and some how you mess it up...

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen

Pros: Lots of slots.

Cons: Does not work, and blue screen on a regular basis.

Great concept, if it worked.

2 out of 5 eggsHmmm, maybe I shouldn't have bought it

Pros: Great features...

Cons: Have never gotten this to work. Too many cables...

Other Thoughts: Gave up after my initial install day! Mounted in the case, but not working.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a piece of garbage

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: Unbelievable, absolute and total waste of plastic and a breadboard. Too many flaws to go into. AVOID AT ALL costs. If anyone buys this and keeps it then they don't like functional accessories.

Other Thoughts: It makes me wretch to have to give to one star. I guess I'll have to live with the guilt.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't Fit... without persuasion

Pros: The card readers, USB 2.0 slot, eSATA all work fine

Cons: Did not fit the 5.25" standard cutout (it was just a little large).

Other Thoughts: The USB 3.0 are pass-throughs - I purchased a motherboard to USB 3.0 adaptor to connect. I sanded the bezel to fit - had to remove about 1/32" from top and about 1/16" from side.

4 out of 5 eggsMedia Reader. It Reads Your Media

Pros: Good price.
Lots of inputs.
USB 3.0 pass thru. (Good if you don't have a header on your mobo, like me)
Transfer speeds aren't terrible.
Install wasn't too hard.

Cons: A lot of cables.
Looks like card reader runs off USB 2.0 connection.
The eSATA port on mine is broken. :(

Other Thoughts: All-in-all, a good budget media reader.
There's a good mess of cables that can get messy. Get some zip ties to tame that beast.
My mobo doesn't have a USB 3.0 header, so I wanted a reader with pass-thru connections.
The card reader works fine. It's USB 2.0 speed, which is fine for me. I don't normally transfer huge amounts of data from my memory cards.
Although I've had this about 3 months, I never tried the eSATA connection till last night, only to discover it doesn't work. I noticed when installing this that inside is just a regular SATA connection with a SATA cable hot glued in place. Maybe the cable just came loose. TBH, I don't plan on RMAing this even if the eSATA is defective. It's really not that important to me. I mostly bought this because I needed a card reader, and that part works fine. Everything else is just a bonus.

5 out of 5 eggsNice option for USB3.0 mobos with no header

Pros: - USB3.0 uses reach through cables instead of mobo header - nice option for mobos with no USB3.0 header
- Recognizes all SD card formats
- Cable length is sufficient for large tower cases
- HD audio
- 5.25" form factor

Cons: - Mounting screw hole locations for drive bay - final mount result not flush with PC exterior
- Slightly recessed inputs for USB
- Price

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 of these for PC builds where I needed a front panel USB3.0 input. A good option for motherboards with no USB3.0 header (only reear panel) or PC cases limited to USB2.0 inputs. The HD audio inputs are a bonus for headset use. No problems recognizing all media inputs (using Win7 64-bit). My main complaint with the unit is that the faceplate does not sit flush with the PC exterior due to the locations of the pre-drilled mounting holes (at least for my case).

2 out of 5 eggsBad Apple

Pros: Great use of a 5.25" drive bay, looks nice, full feature set.

Cons: Bought this for use with a GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 in December of 2011. Never have been able to get it to work properly with the flash cards. I only have SD, SDHC, and CF. Much of the time, it would "ping" at me in Windows 7 64Bit as Windows would recognize (found new hardware) and un-recognize it about every 20-30 seconds. Usually I would tell Windows to ignore it and therefore couldn't use the card readers. Sometimes, it would recognize fine but the speeds of reading flash cards was horrible. Never used the eSATA, firewire, or even the one USB 2.0 port, so I can't comment on those, even though they were plugged in. Audio headers worked good. I tried all the different usb headers on my mobo... nada. Finally yanked it and got a super cheap Rosewill $10 reader with a 5.25" adapter and boom! The Rosewill works like a charm and fast! Overall 1.5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I will eventually try this in another system to see if it was simply a compatibility issue with my motherboard. For now, it's on the shelf - I should have RMA'd it the first month but was too lazy to do so. Having to stretch USB 3.0 cables all the way to the back of the motherboard is annoying... but I suppose there must not be an internal pin standard yet (?).
