1 out of 5 eggsDid not work

Pros: None

Cons: I tried installing this in a Dell Inspiron 5100 and it did not work; I tried it in a number of different configurations and the system refused to recognize it so I sent it in for an RMA and when I received a new one I had the same results.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I cannot get another RMA or refund as the item was originally purchased more then 30 days ago. I wish I had known I'd be unable to return a recent return.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the ol' laptop

Pros: wasn't damaged, fit right in, its kingston.

Cons: none, i bought it here because it was cheaper than where i bought the hard drive and i trust newegg and kingston

Other Thoughts: used this to upgrade an old laptop, in which the hard drive had went out and the ram was not enough. ( i was running it on live linux distros while the hard drive was out and realized that it was in serious need of RAM, and i would have bought a 1Gb stick, but the laptop was old and the max it could handle was 512 per slot. haven't had any problems with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Ram

Pros: Good RAM for the price

Cons: Make sure its 100% compatible with your laptop!

Other Thoughts: For some strange reason i was only able to use 1 of the 2 sticks i purchased. Verify its compatible before dropping the cash.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade for older laptops.

Pros: Works. Can't get more plug-&-play than this.
bought for HP pavilion ze4904us. popped it in, leaving the original 256 stick in its place. they work together. got a hard drive while i was at it, this thing is so much faster, Hulu streams smoothly. i was going to buy 2 because thats the max this thing can hold, and i wasnt sure about compatibility with the stick that came stock.
Kingston provides yet another quality product!

Cons: Nada. Now is the time to upgrade that old laptop before these parts drop off the face of the earth like the socket 939.

Other Thoughts: Great Ram, Great Price

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Works at the proper speed. Tested with memtest for hours, no problems.

Cons: Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Kingston since almost all memory I've seen go bad were Kingston, but my statistics aren't based on a big variety of name brands. However, it's memory. There's not much that can go wrong. All memory is highly-susceptible to static shock. Clocking is a different issue, but not in this case, it's 512mb of ddr 266...

Other Thoughts: Threw this in a client's older HP Pavilion which was previously running at like 190MB or something low. It was packaged that way, running Windows XP. Dumb.

1 out of 5 eggs2 out of 3 bad in Dell Inspiron 5100

Pros: 1 out of 3 worked. (originally bought 2 for a dell 5100 laptop) Newegg replaced without having to return original stick.

Cons: 2 out of 3 didn't work. Dells can be extremely picky about what memory they'll read, but if the computer was at fault, none of them should have worked. I haven't tested them (the bad memory modules) in other machines yet. Dell machines, especially laptops, are notoriously finicky about memory selection. If the specs call for ddr266, then that's what you get, even if ddr400 is cheaper. I've had good luck with Kingston memory on Dell in the past. Maybe it's a quality control issue on Kingston's part.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was very quick to replace this memory, and they offered me a refund without having to return on the 3 (2nd bad) stick. I took the refund and am going to try the Crucial Value Ram instead. I'm dubious about the one stick that DID work now and I'm going to replace both modules just in case.
