5 out of 5 eggsSaved my 2006 Mac mIni

Pros: My Mac mini had been chugging along on 512 MB of RAM since I got it in 2006. I've moved on to Linux since, but one thing Linux doesn't do well is sync with my Apple gear. Upgrading with this RAM has made the mini a usable computer again - I no longer have to sit and wait 15 seconds for iTunes or iPhoto to load every time I plug something in.

No, seriously. I can actually surf the internet without feeling the need to bang my head repeatedly on the keyboard while waiting for Firefox to load. Best $35 I've ever spent on a computer upgrade.

Cons: No cons with the sticks themselves - both were in good working order. Snapped them into place and turned the computer on - the Mac recognized them right away with no issues.

Installing RAM in a Mac mini isn't the most fun I've ever had, but if you've ever put together your own computer you won't have any trouble at all. There are plenty of videos out there online to help you if you're out of warranty or don't mind voiding it to save yourself some cash.

Other Thoughts: I was attempting to upgrade my phone to iOS 4... turns out that requires iTunes 10. Turns out iTunes 10 requires OS X.5 or higher. Turns out OS X.6 requires 1 GB of RAM just to install, let alone run.

Turns out the 2006 Mac mini shipped with 512 MB of RAM - so to install Snow Leopard in order to install iTunes 10 in order to install iOS 4, I would've had to either 1) tweak the code on the installer and then put up with a system even slower than before, 2) buy (*cough*or build*cough*) a new Mac, or 3) max out its 4GB of RAM. Looking at the options, investing in the RAM + OS seemed like the least hassle. I didn't expect it to make this much of a positive difference, though! Between the more streamlined OS and the huge memory upgrade, it's like I have a new computer (except it cost me $70 instead of $700). Highly recommended for folks with older Macs.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Upgraded a friend's MB Pro from 512mb to 2gb. The increased amount of RAM helped with OS X stability and load time issues. The RAM is also pretty stable and operates at a good temperature under load.

Cons: I can't load RAM into my brain to increase my memory potential.

Other Thoughts: I hate Apple :P

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory at great price

Pros: Upgraded my 3-year old MacBook from 1GB to 2GB ram. Faster response from computer. No problem in installation--just follow upgrade instruction from Apple's support website.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Worth the upgrade. Faster speed. More memory for applications. Hope to make my MacBook lasting 2 more years before I replace the laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy for the price

Pros: I went from 512 MB to 2GB and the change is as if I got a new laptop. Definitely a cheap way to upgrade for a big difference. Recommended if you are still running on a laptop with only 512 MB of ram.

Cons: No cons.
