2 out of 5 eggsCompatibility issues

Pros: Good price, good speed in compatible devices

Cons: Worked great in my older camera, but doesn't work in my new D800.

Other Thoughts: I tend to buy only name brand items to avoid problems like this. This is the first time Kingston let me down. Still works great in my D300, so I'll leave it with that camera.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: n/a

Cons: DOA - using a CF->SATA adapter, bios detects it as an 8GB card, and on boot it shows as a 0GB size. Replacing the CF card with another one works fine in the same adapter.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the issue you are having. If you have not yet contacted Newegg, please call our Support Staff at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and one of our Technical Support Representatives will assist you. Please be sure to have the part on hand if you call in.

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with new camera

Pros: This card was well-priced when I bought it last year for use in a D3s camera.

Cons: Incompatible with my new Nikon D800, which makes this card useless.

Other Thoughts: I thought Compact Flash was standardized until I tried to use this existing CF card in a new camera! Poor engineering is my guess. I think Kingston took some shortcuts because all other manufacturers' cards seem to work in the D800 (including the lesser known brands.) But, NONE of Kingston's CF or SD cards will work in Nikon's newer high res D-SLR! Unbelievably disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the issue you are having. We have fixed this compatibility issue. Please call our Support Staff at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and one of our Technical Support Representatives will assist you. Please be sure to have the part on hand if you call in.

5 out of 5 eggsA great choice.

Pros: I bought 6 of these memory cards when they first became available. They have NEVER FAILED. I have shot over 50,000 shots through Canon 30D, 40D, 5DmkII. I use it for both still and video on the 5DmkII, NO FAILURES. If you follow the camera manufacturers instructions to turn the camera off before you INSERT or REMOVE, you'll be surprised at how "memory failures" don't happen.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: For the person that lost 1000's of irreplaceable shots in a 3 day period, unless you were on a lunar expedition, the shots are probably replaceable. Back up your shots more often.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: seemed fast, cheap, large capacity

Cons: unreliable

Other Thoughts: I bought this card thinking I just had a great deal as I thought Kingston was a reputable company (at least in PC memory). I needed a fast large capacity card for model shoots and sports. It was going great for about 3000 shots and then it essentially died. I can't format it anymore and picture taking is impossible. I've never been let down by a Sandisk but wanted cheaper. Lesson learned.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent price for performance

Pros: Excellent card, used for my D300. Now I shoot everything in RAW.

Cons: Luckily came the same day as a wedding I was shooting! Thought it'd be here fastest, not a negative to the card, but thought Newegg would be faster.

Other Thoughts: Wish it were 32Gig

1 out of 5 eggsBe warned....

Pros: cheap.

Cons: failed with in a month. I used it for my Canon 7D and it works fine with pictures when using for video it malfunctions.

Other Thoughts: if you plan on using for just pictures it's not bad. Would not recommend for videos

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Had potential.

Cons: I lost many, many priceless shots when this card produced a read error on my 40D, twice in three days. 3 days of ownership, thousands of irreplaceable shots lost. I will never buy another Kingston product.

5 out of 5 eggsiPod Video (5th Gen) Upgrade

Pros: Only using this CF card for an iPod Video 30GB upgrade, but it has been excellent so far. I notice significant increase in the read times (although my HDD was on it's last leg) but the write times are about the same. No official benchmarks for read/write but my battery life appears to be much better too.

Cons: To upgrade from a HDD to an adapter that's not sold on Newegg (do a google search, shouldn't cost more than $17) but certainly not worthy of egg!

Other Thoughts: If your iPod Video 5th gen has a noisy hard drive and you want to keep it, don't hesitate their are plenty of guides online for the novice!
