3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: fast shipping

Cons: Does not work with the Asus p7f-x serverboard

Manufacturer Response:

Hello

We are sorry to hear that you are having compatibility problems, it appears that you have mistakenly purchased the incorrect memory for this Asus P7F-X motherboard.

The memory specifications for this particular motherboard call for ECC, Unbuffered (non-registered) memory modules. This module, KVR1333D3D4R9S/4G, is a Registered, ECC module using x4 components.

Additionally, this board utilizes the Intel 3400 chipset series which only supports x8 based memory modules, such as ECC Unbuffered.

In the future, please utilize the Kingston Memory Configurator to insure you are purchasing the correct platform memory (see shortened link below):

Thank you for using Kingston! Hope this helps.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT WITH HP PROLIANT

Pros: quick shipping for the holidays.

Cons: doesn't work with hp proliant DL120 G6. tried every configuration and couldn't get any video. every once an a while I'd get the incompatible memory beeps. I wish there were details as to which servers they would work for. the proliant series is pretty common.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing compatibility issues with this part.

Valueram is not intended for use in OEM (e.g. HP, Dell, IBM, etc) servers. Our System Specific memory is the safest way to go.

However, there is another reason for the problem you are seeing. This particular DL120 G6 server also utilizes an Intel 3420 chipset. There are memory compatibility limitations with that and this chipset experiences compatibility issues with x4 based memory. Memory that is x8 based is recommmended.

Please use our system memory configurator for compatible memory options for this platform, link below:

Thanks for choosing Kingston! Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed with ASUS Z8NA

Pros: Ordered 6 to go with a somewhat high end video editing workstation I custom built. Haven't had a single issue.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you don't need anything super fancy and/or have budget constraints keeping you from getting higher end RAM, this will work just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS KGPE-D16 Dual Socket G34

Pros: Ordered 4 sticks... all performing flawlessly.

Cons: Picture showed DIMM w/out heat spreaders... received 1 w/out and 3 with, build would look nicer if all matched but now I only need to buy 1 heat spreader instead of 4 so can't really complain.

Other Thoughts: will be ordering more.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with my EVGA SR-2

Pros: Reliable; fast; runs at full 1333 speed on my EVGA SR-2.

Cons: May not OC as well as non-ECC RAM, but I actually haven't tried that yet myself.

Other Thoughts: I have 6 sticks of this (24GB total) running with a single CPU on my SR-2. Works great; not a single glitch.

One of the big benefits of Xeons over the Desktop i7 CPUs is that they support ECC -- highly recommended, especially if you have more than 8GB total, otherwise the risk of undetected RAM errors in the long term is surprisingly high.
