1 out of 5 eggsNOT WORK

Pros: Free After Rebate

Cons: Does not read any of my SD cards. It is useless as I only have SD cards.

Cannot return as I did the rebate first.

1 out of 5 eggsSteer Clear from this one

Pros: Blister pack was only taped shut, and not hermetically sealed?

Cons: Where to begin...flimsy construction, extra short cord that cuts out of moved too much, reads about 50% of the cards inserted, and even that is random. When it does read, transfers are excruciatingly slow(think sub usb 1.1 speeds), no instruction booklet.

Other Thoughts: I normally stray away from cheapo brand external devices as they are rarely worth the time or money.

I should have taken my own advice, as my wife's flaky internal reader does a better job than this new product.

And before you think to yourself, well it's only one piece out of millions made...a friend has one as well, and his hit the trash last week. Almost the same problems except his would just disappear from explorer during reads.

Reader is junk due to poor manufacturing choices.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems writing to CF

Pros: Cheap. Seems to read CF devices just fine.

Cons: Was not able to correctly write to CF devices that other USB writers had not trouble with. Would silently corrupt data on write.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy if you need to write to CF media.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device

Pros: Great little device does everything it's meant to do. Money well spent (only $8). Works right out of the box don't need any special program.

Cons: Hmm... If I have to say something I guess the cord it came with was a little on the short side. But that's because of how my setup is.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome inexpensive card reader

Pros: Simple to install, worked immediately, compact size, lightweight, high impact plastic

Cons: lightweight, plastic, no rubber feet

Other Thoughts: This inexpensive cardreader was easy to install (XP-P) and worked first time with an SD card. Correctly lit the SD card selection and downloaded photos straight away. Plastic housing is really lightweight. Could be some concern about the cable pulling it onto a hard floor.

4 out of 5 eggsCF works, SD doesn't

Pros: Worked with a 256MB regular CF card and an old 4GB Hitachi Microdrive which is a little fatter and uses more current.

Cons: The SD card slot on mine doesn't seem to work, but it doesn't matter to me because I bought it for the CF reader.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, if you're willing to take it apart

Pros: Cheap. The CF slot works.

Cons: The plastic case prevents one from inserting a CF card into its slot.

In order to fix this, I unscrewed the plastic case, took out the board, and then inserted my CF card into the slot on the board. I then carefully put the plastic case back into place so that it was lightly touching my CF card. This left a bit of a gap, so I can now plug in my CF card without having to take the board out of its case, but now the plastic case doesn't enclose the board as tightly as it originally did.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried any of the slots besides the CF one.

You have to plug in your CF card upside down. This makes sense, because the CF card reader is just a standard reader attached to the bottom of the board, rather than the top.

5 out of 5 eggsNice working little unit

Pros: Cheap, Worked out of the box, compact, power LED and Led's to show what card is in the slot

Cons: wish it came with a case to keep it in, but I have one that fits it nice

Other Thoughts: Reads the two cards I needed it to SDHC and XD. USB cable is 24-inches long
