4 out of 5 eggsGood for a HDD replacement

Pros: It's an SSD... Much faster read performance than a mechanical drive. Decent price for an SSD of this capacity. Came with adapter rails to mount in 3.5" bay.

Cons: Write performance seems about hte same as a mechanical 2.5" drive. Supplied software to clone from old drive to this new one is clunky, but it works.

Other Thoughts: I originally built a network management workstation with an Intel Atom 330 with 1 GB RAM and one of these drives running XP. The preformance has been great! I built another one as an HTPC, with a Zotac nVidia Ion mobo, running the Atom 330 processor and 2GB RAM. The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Boots to the desktop in under 60 seconds! I'm considering getting another 2 and running as RAID 0 system drive on my desktop PC. That should fly!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Cheap SSD Solution!

Pros: Silent, low power consumption, easy to install. Package came with 3.5" slot conversion brackets.

Cons: The drive isn't as fast as I thought it would be. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and I was expecting a boot time of literally seconds after the BIOS POST. For the most part, it seems to be a little faster than normal HDD solutions, but not the blazing speed I had expected from even a cheap SSD.

Other Thoughts: I have put this into a HTPC. I decided on a SSD because of it's low power consumption & silent operation. I chose this drive because of it's price to size ratio. I highly recommend this drive for those of you on the fence about getting an SSD, especially if you're looking to utilize it in a HTPC environment as I am.

4 out of 5 eggsJohn

Pros: Boot up W2k3 server in half the time of a Velociraptor.
Reads at 101MB/s
Writes at 80MB/s

Cons: After running Tversity for one hour computer started to stutter. It was updating my library of 85000 songs. I'm guessing a data base file on a SSD is not a good thing. I then moved Tversity on another drive and the stuttering problem was solved. Only bad thing is the reads went to 60MB/s and writes were 25MB/s. The data base writing must of trash the drive. Went ahead and move mail servers data files off the drive and turned of Indexing. Still didn't help reads and writes. Without TRim this happens to all SSD drives.

Other Thoughts: Solution to drive slowing. Loaded up Acronis TI Home 2010 and imaged SSD to a spare drive. Used the drive erase program and wrote 0's to the entire drive. Once done I put the image back on the drive. Booted up W2k3 and ran some benchmarks on the drive again.
Writes 80MB/s

5 out of 5 eggsGood SSD

Pros: Price - After looking at many SSDs, I found that this one was on the low end of the price range.
Speed - This thing is much faster than HDs I've used before. Windows 7 boots up and is web browsing in under 20 seconds.
Size - These things are tiny! you can actually fit 2 of them in one 3.5" drive slot
Temp - They run very cool

Cons: Slight stuttering every once in a while (less than once per week) but it really isn't noticeable.

Other Thoughts: This version comes with the adapters to allow it to fit within a standard 3.5" drive bay. The adapters will actually fit 2 drives within the space of one 3.5" slot so you can fit more drives in the same area.

2 out of 5 eggsno reciept provided by newegg

Pros: great product

Cons: forget about wasting your time with a rebate, newegg doesn't even give you a receipt that complies with Kingston requirements. It is therefore impossible to receive the rebate.

Other Thoughts: newegg should stop baiting their cherished customers with rebates that are not redeemable..

I've been on the phone for 20 minutes while I write this waiting for them to respond.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy other instead

Pros: No mechanical parts to wear out.
Cheap for an SSD.

Cons: No TRIM support, no "wiper.exe" either.
MLC (vs SLC).

Other Thoughts: I didn't do my homework when I bought this. I assumed that since it has been >6mos. since word of the TRIM command support has been around, that Kingston would be supporting it - NOT! The sustained read-write speeds are not that much faster than conventional HDs either (around 2x). But it does work as advertised. I have searched and can't find even a wiper.exe program for it (read about TRIM). There is nothing for it on the Kingston website, and the site does not even mention TRIM in the support pages for this drive. Spend a little more and get something better, or revert to conventional HD.

5 out of 5 eggsPleasant Surprise

Pros: Inexpensive compared to SSD alternatives. Excellent boot drive for those where cost is a consideration. Speeds up boot time considerably on my AMD mid range systems. Mounting system included (w/SATA cable) for 3.5" case slot.

Cons: Not as fast as the high priced SSD's. 64gb capacity will have many users needing a second drive.

Other Thoughts: My systems just feel more responsive with this drive as the system drive. It is everything I hoped it would be. Just got my rebates last week with no issues. Kingston even sent status email's on the rebates.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Night-and-day difference when booting, and switching between, apps. (In OS X.)

Cons: Noticeably slower and more "stuttery" than the older PQI SSD I have in my other computer. Also somewhat slower than the regular hard drive it's replacing in terms of sustained read/write performance, etc. But I'm still perfectly satisfied with the performance and wouldn't pay even $10 more for a faster drive.

Other Thoughts: My old MacBook was bogging down because it didn't have enough RAM. Instead of buying more DDR2 RAM which is already outdated, I opted for this SSD. I definitely made the right choice--now I can run as many programs as I want with minimal lag, plus the programs start faster. And I'm sure I'll be using this drive in one laptop or another for many years to come.
