1 out of 5 eggsKingston - BAD Company

Pros: None other than the memory might be fine but as it was not the correct memory I have no clue.

Cons: Very bad, and I do mean BAD customer service when you call a customer a liar and Kingston support does not know what they are talking about.

Other Thoughts: Had a Sony Vaio (PCG-7X2L) of a friend on my desk that needed a new drive and memory upgrade. I normally do not do laptops but as I had specific instructions on how to dismantle this machine to install drive I took the task on. The drive part went fine but using Kingston"s Memory tools, I could find no listing for the lappy. So I called them. A nice lady took the PCG-7X2L number (all I had), put me on hold for a couple of minutes and then came back and said it was listed under VGN-N220E. She also gave me a memory number of M25664F50, which were 2 Gb chips. I thought all was good and ordered the parts. When I got them this past Friday, the drive went fine but the comp would not boot with the new Kingston memory and I discovered a VGN-N220E model number in the BIO's. So I call Kingston this am. Wound up talking with a supervisor and was called a liar. They said they did not do that and yet, they seemed to know that the VGN-CR590 was the part number for the screen, which of course they don't make or sell but for some reason have the number. When I then brought up the VGN-N220E number, the head of tech support says that that number is not accurate and to not ever use it. Well then, why would that number just happen to be in their own memory tools listing under Sony Vaio? And of course it also shows that the comp is already maxed out at 2 Gb. So while the memory may be great, the company has no problem calling a customer a liar as well as clearly tech support is somewhat clueless about model numbers. Of course there is also the matter of giving out a part number that had nothing to do with the memory to start with. I am thankful to Newegg for taking the memory back but the whole experience took a lot of time and made for a huge amount of frustration. Being called a liar by a huge company like Kingston for me is irreparable and flat out insulting. As a result, never again will I purchase their memory because you know that they will not care about the customer in the end.

Pros: Works like a champ in a Sony Vaio W netbook.

Cons: None, listed as compatible on the Kingston support site.
