Dramatically increase the performance of your existing system with Kingston's SSDNow V solid-state drive! Aimed at everyday users and small to medium businesses, the second-generation Kingston SSDNow V Series improves the performance of the drive without increasing the price and supports Windows 7 TRIM functionality, which helps the SSD maintain high performance through the life of the drive. Adding an SSD to a desktop already using a standard hard disk drive is a smart and efficient way to upgrade. Transferring the operating system and applications from the HDD to the SSD allows the SSD to be used as a bootable drive that takes full advantage of the Flash-based technology. The SSD and the HDD then co-exist to drive optimal performance in the upgraded desktop. The SSDNow V Series drive uses a standard SATA interface but, unlike a regular HDD, SSD is very rugged and built with no moving parts, making it ideal for power users and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Other benefits include reduced power usage, less noise and less heat generation.

Kingston's SSDNow V Series offers performance gains and power consumption reductions at a fraction of the cost of a new system. For added peace of mind, they're backed by 24/7 tech support, a three-year warranty and legendary Kingston reliability.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Acting without any moving parts, the Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/64GB solid-state drive boasts multiple advanced features including zero mechanical noise, faster data rates compared to conventional HDDs, over 1-million-hour life span, ultra-low power consumption and impressive shock, vibration and extreme temperature resistance. With these breakthrough capabilities, the SSD meets all the demanding requirements for high-performance storage.
  • newegg Windows 7 TRIM Support The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/64GB solid-state drive offers Windows 7 TRIM support, which uses ATA commands to increase the SSD write speeds in Windows 7. It also cuts down on the amount of data to be deleted, increasing the SSD’s lifespan and allowing it to delete garbage data in advance.
  • newegg SATA 3.0 Gb/s Interface The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/64GB solid-state drive features the next-generation SATA II interface supporting up to 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates, Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and hot-pluggable point-to-point connections for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.
  • newegg Desktop Upgrade Kit The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/64GB solid-state drive comes with a desktop upgrade kit that contains all the accessories needed for a smooth upgrade, including Acronis True Image HD system cloning software, mounting brackets and cables.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing strong 4 years later

Pros: Still going strong. Heavy use for over 4 years.

Cons: Not super fast compared to newer SSD's but it still holds up well compared to new mechanical drives.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent value

Pros: I have used and abused these drives for several years now - I bought two to use in a system and have wiped and reused these several times over. No issues.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice SSD!

Pros: Great price when on sale, functions well, imaging software provided copied my old hard drive with no problem.

Cons: May have issues coexisting with other drives. Locks up on boot whenever I plug either of two data-only drives into the SATA port on the mobo. Returns to working when I unplug it again.

Other Thoughts: A trusty SSD (in my experience) that works great with Windows 7.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good for the price

Pros: Very good read speeds, getting 215MB on average, but write speeds are roughly half of the theoretical max. Windows boot times are improved somewhat over my old 7200RPM drive, and Windows Experience score went from 5.9 to 6.7.

Biggest improvement is in loading Crysis and Photoshop. Crysis went from nearly 90 seconds to less than 10 seconds. Photoshop loads in 3 seconds instead of 20

Cons: Was expecting closer to max write speeds.

Other Thoughts: Excellent price

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: Good upgrade from two 500 GB 32mb Cache caviar blacks in raid 0. Form factor, construction and overall usual pros you hear about SSD drives in general. Ex: lower heat output, less ambient noise, if its in a laptop, lowers battery consumption. Makes a very good boot drive.

Cons: Price, only because the V100 series are cheaper and are actually a little better. I bought two for raid 0 bout 4 months ago and they work well but price hasn't dropped too much even then with the revisions and newer models out. Unfortunately I bought 2 more of these a few days ago to compliment my fresh/new system, and at a good price luckily but not from Newegg at $85 each with $15 for shipping each off of an online "auction house" -_-.

Other Thoughts: 4 of these in raid 0 and its awesome. Never thought I'd have that many drives let alone SSD's in a raid 0 config but I'm very very happy.

Set up:
- Windows 7 64 bit Pro
- MSI AM3 Nforce 980a SLI-G65
- AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 4.2 GHz
- Anodized Matte Black Noctua NH-D14 /w. IC 24 Carat Diamond Thermal Compound
- (2) EVGA GTX 570 SLI configuration
- 8GB (4x-2GB) Corsair DDR3 1600 Dominator Memory
- (4) Kingston SSD V Series 64GB drives (raid 0 config.)
- (2) Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 32mb Cache drives (raid 1 config.)
- Corsair HX850 PSU (custom individual braided sleeved)
- Antec P182 (custom Matte Black interior w/ Clear Coat)

5 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: -Relatively cheap
-ALOT faster than HDD
-7.1 in WEI with old mobo
-64gb can deal with OS and about 3 modern games

Cons: -Not the quickest SSD out there, reflective in price though
-64gb kind of small for a hard drive (nitpicking), but what can one do about that except wait for the tech to become more inexpensive per gb, which will come with time

Other Thoughts: Liking it a whole lot, going to be throwing into my new build based on an ASUS 980a SLI EVO AM3 board, hopefully this enhances SSD, I don't know but would imagine new architecture would improve drive performance, or at least latency times slightly.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It runs great. Had no problems with it yet. It takes my computer 45 sec to boot up. Not too bad may I say.

Cons: I can't think of any.
