Dramatically increase the performance of your existing system with Kingston's SSDNow V solid-state drive! Aimed at everyday users and small to medium businesses, the second-generation Kingston SSDNow V Series improves the performance of the drive without increasing the price and supports Windows 7 TRIM functionality, which helps the SSD maintain high performance through the life of the drive. Adding an SSD to a desktop already using a standard hard disk drive is a smart and efficient way to upgrade. Transferring the operating system and applications from the HDD to the SSD allows the SSD to be used as a bootable drive that takes full advantage of the Flash-based technology. The SSD and the HDD then co-exist to drive optimal performance in the upgraded desktop. The SSDNow V Series drive uses a standard SATA interface but, unlike a regular HDD, SSD is very rugged and built with no moving parts, making it ideal for power users and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Other benefits include reduced power usage, less noise and less heat generation.

Kingston's SSDNow V Series offers performance gains and power consumption reductions at a fraction of the cost of a new system. For added peace of mind, they're backed by 24/7 tech support, a three-year warranty and legendary Kingston reliability.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Acting without any moving parts, the Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/128GB solid-state drive boasts multiple advanced features including zero mechanical noise, faster data rates compared to conventional HDDs, over 1-million-hour life span, ultra-low power consumption and impressive shock, vibration and extreme temperature resistance. With these breakthrough capabilities, the SSD meets all the demanding requirements for high-performance storage.
  • newegg Windows 7 TRIM Support The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/128GB solid-state drive offers Windows 7 TRIM support, which uses ATA commands to increase the SSD write speeds in Windows 7. It also cuts down on the amount of data to be deleted, increasing the SSD’s lifespan and allowing it to delete garbage data in advance.
  • newegg SATA 3.0 Gb/s Interface The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/128GB solid-state drive features the next-generation SATA II interface supporting up to 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates, Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and hot-pluggable point-to-point connections for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.
  • newegg Desktop Upgrade Kit The Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/128GB solid-state drive comes with a desktop upgrade kit that contains all the accessories needed for a smooth upgrade, including Acronis True Image HD system cloning software, mounting brackets and cables.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable Drive

Pros: I've had this drive running almost continuously since I bought it in mid 2010. It has never had an issue and has served me with reliable performance in both a laptop and 2 desktops in that time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: In 2010 I spent $250 for this drive which I thought was high at the time but it was money well spent.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the trick

Pros: Fast. Took the performance index from 5.9 to 6.8! Easy to install, the Acronis Software makes the cloning to make it a boot drive no hassle. Don't format it .... I had to use the WD Acronis Software to get the clone set up.
Great drive for those who want a really fast system. This was an easy build given the components.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Intel i7, Asus P*Z68-V Pro, 16gb Corsair 1600, Cool Master Tower.

2 out of 5 eggsSSD Works but Kingston reneged on the rebate

Pros: The drive (the Kingston SSDNow V100 Series 64GB model) works well and fast, up to this date of writing this review. Very satisfied with it's value and performance.

Cons: A rebate was advertised as part of the sale when I purchased it. I fully understand that one must be prepared to cross your T's and dot your I's when it comes to rebates, however, even after triple checking everything before sending it in, my rebate was declined. Kingston gave the reason as sending an invalid receipt. They do not accept order-confirmation emails, nor packing slips as a receipt. I sent them the print out of Neweggs receipt which shows up at the end of the online purchase process. So is Kingston implying that Neweggs receipts are invalid? Very confusing. The lady on the phone could not give me one good reason why the Newegg receipt was invalid (had all the info she asked for) and is making me resubmit the whole thing over again.

I welcome a response from Kingston why I, a long time Kingston customer, and being made to jump hoops for no legitimate reason.

Other Thoughts: Your experience may differ from mine, but just keep in mind this is something that obviously happens and is very frustrating. You might want to ignore the rebates being offered when planning your purchase, otherwise prepare for *possible* disappointment and frustration.

5 eggs for the product and Newegg's service and shipping. -3 eggs for lying to me about the reason for the rebate submission being invalid so blatantly that neither the customer service rep nor her manager could explain why exactly the Newegg online receipt was not accepted as valid.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge difference - great deal

Pros: Bought this drive to replace my WD Scorpio Black 320GB since I was only using 90GB of space. I picked it up for $124 after a $75 rebate. My startup time was cut to less than half and all programs load much faster while total disk virus scans are about 1/3 the time. Using Windows 7 64bit. I'm going to sell all of my other hard drives and get another one of these. The rebate allows for 2/household.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm curious how the one low ball reviewer was getting too much noise from his drive. He mentioned a high pitched noise that was extremely loud. I would think that would be a red flag that something was wrong and not normal.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm loving it!

Pros: Load into windows fast, and all start up programs are ready to go as soon as I am in windows!
Brought my Windows index score up to 6.9, still my lowest score, maybe when SSD's come down in price a lil more I will go for a larger/even faster one.

Cons: 119gb of space after format, but still, that's good for windows, start up programs, and a select few games I put on it.
Price still a little on the high side.

Other Thoughts: I got this with the intention of just putting windows, and a few programs on it, have 3 games on it atm, WoW, Fallout 3&NV and load times are lightning fast!
Also using a Samsung 1tb drive for all my programs and games.
Would recommend this to anyone looking to jump into the SSD market.

Cons: Not 2 TB in size.

Other Thoughts: Using this as my C drive with a 2 TB striped RAID for data. Very fast.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up review

Pros: This is a follow up to my review on 3/10/2010. After 7 months of use, these drives still perform like the day I installed them.

I had originally planned to install the pair in RAID, but that would not support TRIM, so I simply put 64 bit Windows 7 on one drive and openSUSE on the other. Stunning results on either OS. Dual booting at the menu and choose Windows. I am at the login screen in 10 to 11 seconds. If I choose to boot openSUSE, I am at the login screen in 8 to 9 seconds. Amazing!

I am running a nice PC with a quad core processor and this upgrade was incredible boost to the speed. Programs open instantly. Click the mouse and the PC is waiting on you. No more waiting on the PC.

Cons: After 7 months of use, I still can not find any fault with this product.

Other Thoughts: I did not use the Acronis software that came with the drives, because I was doing a clean install of two different OS's.

For the price, this is a great drive and I would recommend it to my friends.
