5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: - *Excellent Value*
- Very fast read speeds
- TRIM support
- Silent
- Light
- ~10 sec boot into OS
- Requires less power = longer battery on my laptop

Cons: - Bad random write speed

Other Thoughts: I've been looking to upgrade my laptop hard drive to an SSD for some time now and jumped on this one when it went on sale for $75. This drive has a formatted capacity is ~28gb, which is enough for me since I'm using it on a netbook running Arch linux, which takes up <4gb for the OS and all of its necessary programs. I didn't feel like shelling out the cash for the Intel X25-M so this was the best alternative I could find for an affordable, entry level SSD. I would highly recommend this for use in a netbook or as a boot drive, although it might be a little small for Windows 7.

5 out of 5 eggsspeechless

Pros: amazing. single greatest increase in performance i've seen in a long time. i have 2 of these. one has ubuntu with the swap partition on the opposite drive, and the other has win7 with the page file located on the opposite drive.
great way to bring older (yet compatible) hardware back to life.

Cons: price/GB. but give it a year or so to come down.

Other Thoughts: with conventional spinning drives costing so little, locating user data on one of those and keeping OS/app/gaming data on the SSD is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Installed as a boot drive in a Windows XP machine. I know, I know: No trim support. He's only got 3 gb of data on the drive and it makes the computer I built run like greased lightning. Very fast to boot and within windows. Almost instantaneous response from office programs.

I put this in a construction field office that sometimes loses power and thus, heat. We've typically had trouble with field computers because when the superintendent leaves he turns off the heat to the office. Mechanical drives fail at amazing rates in this environment. This should be solved by the SSD solution.

Cons: No garbage collection support.

No trim support (due to Windows XP install).

This drive really isn't big enough for a Windows 7 install and all the software I need to run on it.

Other Thoughts: Still an excellent value and trim support isn't really necessary on this machine due to it's use. Very quick and more climate proof than mechanical drives.

I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: Initial performance was jaw dropping. Couldn't believe how fast Windows XP installed and booted (from the initial status screen saying 39 minutes to complete installation, it took <10 minutes). I liked the desktop bundle; the 2.5 to 3.5 adapters worked well, and it was nice to have included cabling that handled a non-SATA-ready power supply.

Cons: Not so much a product con as a con related to the purchase. I think I would buy a 64 GB instead; I'm concerned 30 GB (27 usable by WinXP) may not be enough, even in a system with a second (traditional) hard drive for storage. I talked myself into the 30 GB drive to save the $$. Time will tell.

Other Thoughts: I was prepared for the drive to slow down after the initial install, but it was still a little disappointing (from a 10 second WinXP boot to 30; still better than 2 minutes). Time will tell, but so far I really like the drive. I am considering only buying SSDs when I need to replace a hard drive in all of the laptops belonging to my school (about 100). Noticeable improvement in performance. Regarding a previous reviewer's comments about the adapter rails and screws being difficult, I didn't find the rails or the screws to be out of the ordinary for laptop hardware. I liked the hardware provided. I'm also still curious about how the Intel branded SSDs would compare. Kingston performance seems solid, but after the initial (relative) slow down as drive has settled in, I do wonder about how Intel's drives would compare. Make no mistake, though; it noticeably improves OS speed.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Silent. Fast read speeds.

Cons: Economy SSD write speeds. But, that's what you're buying, right?

You will hate the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter rails. Specifically, you'll hate the short, stubby, tiny screws that come with them. Make sure to use a medium-sized jeweler's screwdriver, and magnetize the tip. That will make the process of installing them less aggravating.

Other Thoughts: I wish mail-in rebates would be outlawed in the US.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Is an ssd, not a bad price after rebate. Installed windows 7 64 bit with little problems. Came with some fresh cables.

Cons: The write speed is 50 mbps. Only 30GB but I knew that when buying. Rails were kind of annoying to install in my desktop due to tiny screws and screw holes

Other Thoughts: My bios was set to configure SATA as IDE, I needed to change it to use AHCI in order to install the OS
