1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy. Picture is incorrect. Memory modules were changed.

Pros: Has correct number of pins.

Cons: Ordered two of these for use in the Supermicro SuperServer 5015A-EHF-D525, Newegg Item#: N82E16816101364. System does not boot.

Memory as pictured on Newegg shows Hynix H5TQ2G83BFR-H9C chips on a blue PCB with a sticker that says KVR800D3S8S6/2G. These are listed as compatible modules by Supermicro.

Memory as shipped uses Elpida chips on a green PCB with a sticker that says KVR800D3S8S6/2G (yes, the same label.)

Other Thoughts: Memory manufacturers should change model numbers whenever they change hardware components. You can't force hardware compatibility by keeping the same sticker on the packaging.

Plenty of empty Kingston RAM packages floating around. Been rock solid in the past. First time with this sort of labeling problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We're sorry for the issue that occurred with the memory. The part maintained the same part number as it matches the same specifications as listed on it's datasheet: http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR800D3S8S6_2G.pdf . Components are subject to change within any part depending on availability and the part number will remain the same as long as all specifications are met. We are here to help and can work with you to find the best solution. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good for MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525

Pros: Newegg Sells barebones kits for the Supermicro SPEHF-D525 servers with this ram. I'm sure that Kingston does test their RAM.

Cons: I used this RAM with the MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525 and the server would not boot. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps, but it was no good.

Other Thoughts: Borrowed some RAM from my laptop and the server booted fine. I tried each of the two sticks that I purchased by themselves in each of the ram slots. It was no good. Kingston does reference this RAM for this Motherboard. I wonder if they changed something. Other reviewers said it worked in their Supermicro build.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. We do test all our products prior to shipping out from our facilities, see details here: http://www.kingston.com/us/company/testing . Those modules are recommended for use on that motherboard and should work. We stand by our products and can work with you on a warranty replacement of the modules. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy did they run out of stock?

Pros: Works great. Very reliable.

Cons: Newegg ran out of stock and had to buy more in another place :(

Other Thoughts: I purchased these to run on a small server from supermicro and they work great.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine in a Zotac ZBOX ID-12

Pros: It's RAM so of course it's probably the easiest upgrade you can do to a computer. Added to the ZOTAC ZBOX I have it gave the system a total of 3 GB of RAM. Stopped the stuttering I was getting on 720P flash videos and otherwise has behaved as you expect RAM to behave.

Cons: No real Cons. Packaging was pretty anemic. A padded envelope with the RAM (in it's blister pack) inside. It survived the DHL/USPS grindfest in working order so this may not really be a negative.

Other Thoughts: Running fine in a ZOTAC ZBOX ID-12 Plus, mounted behind an old Viewsonic 1280 x 1024 LCD running Open SUSE 12.3 64 bit that is in the guest bedroom at my house.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great in Gateway LT4009u

Pros: Adding this system specific memory card and upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium are two necessary upgrades for this little Netbook. The system booted and read the card without a problem. Both upgrades were done for about $40.00. Greatly speeds things along !!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Sources on the Web indicated using a 4gb card was possible with the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade. Kingston Tech Dept indicated this was not true, at least not for my little Gateway LT4009u. They directed me to the processor specific card for my system as there are 2 possible options.

4 out of 5 eggsRAM for Eee PC 1015PED

Pros: Ram works as advertised. Upgrading was easy and there's been no faults with the hardware.

It was also dirt cheap which is always a nice bonus!

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: It's RAM and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. Not much else to say, is there?
