5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Both OS recognize and utilize the increased RAM for my studioXPS 1640.

Easier to alt tab in Windows. Not much else.

I notice a bigger and overall increase in speed for Ubuntu.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Glad my bios supported the increase in RAM.
Both of my O/S are 64 bit to utilize the 8gigs of ram.

After installation the page file system actually increased about 4gbs. I had to decrease my page file size for Vista to utilize the RAM because I didn't notice any difference at first.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for a 14z

Pros: It may be great. But, it does not work with a Dell 1400/14z (Model sold only in Best Buy) This particular laptop only takes up to 5GB of ram (stock 3GB). 1GB is soldered to the motherboard. The memory selection tool had me believe it was upgradable to 8GB. My fault for not pulling the cover off before purchasing/ and trusting the software. But, a good note to any of you who try to buy memory for this particular laptop using the memory tool on Newegg...

Cons: RMA process was easy... Paying a restocking fee is not much fun though. But, again.. I could have researched more and not just depended on the memory tool.

Other Thoughts: I ended up putting the original 2gb back in for now. But, I did replace my HD with a solid state... Much large improvement in speed than the memory grade would have been!
