5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Insanely fast

Cons: Insanely expensive

Other Thoughts: While I have not benchmarked it against its other brethren and cannot really vouch for its standing in the increasingly crowded field of SSD storage, this unit has been performing beautifully for me, both under Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.0.4. If screaming fast data throughput is what you're after for demanding multimedia applications, this one's a no-brainer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Unbelievable performance and silence! Works great with my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit!

Cons: Didn't come with mounting rails or any way to mount it in my case. This would be a 5 star rating if those items had come with it. Don't know if this is the manufacturer or Newegg's oversight. If it is up to the customer to purchase them, Newegg should include that as a warning once this item is added to the cart.

5 out of 5 eggsFast...Fast...Fast...Baby

Pros: Bought 4 of these and put them on RAID 0. Super fast on gaming Crysis 2. I'm very recommend it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Eyes on Intel 600GB SSD...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Rock-solid reliable, fast, large capacity.

Cons: Heavy

Other Thoughts: This SSD is very fast and has huge capacity. It's been my primary drive, running continuously, for 6+ months with absolutely no problems of any kind. Previous Samsung SSD had a plastic shell and was very light. This drive has a metal shell and is relatively heavy. This may be important to some who pay a lot to get a light laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsVery solid performance, my fav. SSD to date

Pros: +Great balance in read and write speeds from latest gen controller and firmware
+Aggressive garbage cleanup makes this a good boot drive for XP, and means performance stays high over time
+Only 512 GB SSD for laptops that you can actually buy.
+Totally reliable thus far

Cons: -PRICE, of course
-New Sandforce controllers in Crucial SSDs and Intel next gen SSDs will be about twice as fast.

Other Thoughts: I've owned 6 Kingston SSD's from v+ to v100 to latest v+ 100, two Crucial and an AData (mistake on the latter). Kingston remains my favorite, as it has very reliable, balanced, fast performance in the real world, AND I really need the space. This V+ 100 is now my boot drive in my Toshiba M750, replacing a V100 which is now my data drive in the same machine. The V+100 is a bit faster overall, definitely faster on writes, and has the benefit of Garbage Cleanup independent of the OS, which I need as we're still on XP.

Here are the real world specs, 3 months in:

Crystal DiskMark

Sequential Read : 200.301 MB/s
Sequential Write : 202.819 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 177.991 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 138.884 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 13.068 MB/s [ 3190.4 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 8.226 MB/s [ 2008.3 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 14.421 MB/s [ 3520.8 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 8.094 MB/s [ 1976.1 IOPS]

Worth it if you need the space!

2 out of 5 eggsSSD Drive...

Pros: Fast, quiet, high capacity drive.

Cons: Expensive.

Other Thoughts: This is the second 512GB SSD drive I purchased from newegg. The last one (same model) came with a caddy, acronis cloning software and rails, cables. This didn't come with ANY of that, even though it was shown on the site when I purchased it. I had to call several times to get a response from newegg. In the end they gave me $10 off my next purchase. I am extremely dissatisfied with their response.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Great speed
installation is a snap, no real setup needed, peace of mind due to no moving parts, less concern about drive failure

Cons: not the fastest SSD, but it makes up for it being one of the few in its price class to offer this much storage. DIDNT SHIP WITH FULL KIT, i.e. mounting screws etc.

Other Thoughts: would recommend to anyone who needs decent ssd speed with a good amount of storage. would have loved a TB, but im sure the price for that is astronomical. im resting a bit easier now that my data is on something with less chance of crapping out.

4 out of 5 eggsFollow up

Pros: Drive is much faster than my Lenovo T61's Hitachi 7200rpm 200gb drive. Previously, Windows too 2 minutes and 20 seconds to boot. It now takes 1 minute and 10 seconds (I used a sector by sector disk cloning software).
Ubuntu 10.10 used to take 1 minute to boot and now takes under 40 seconds.

Cons: Newegg got back to me and said they only have the SATA cable and SATA power cable to provide me as missing parts - and the photos on the page STILL show the CD, drive caddy, and usb cable.

Other Thoughts: I'll def. consider these drives for my other machines.

3 out of 5 eggsincomplete package

Pros: Its an SSD

Cons: The unit arrived at my office with only the SSD. The photos clearly show a drive caddy, rails, cables, etc. All I got was the drive. Contacted newegg support and they said I should hear back in 1-2 business days about the accessories.

Other Thoughts: I will post an updated review when I get the drive installed and tested; I will also follow up on where my accessories are.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: Fast and reliable. These things just plain work. This is the only manufacturer that has been able to provide 100% working products for us for SSDs in this capacity. We have bought about 30 of these and have never had one fail.

Cons: Not the fastest SSD, but we'll take dependability over a slight increase in speed.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy SSD products with on-board RAID. We've had nothing but problems with those.
