4 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: 8GB, Class 10(sorta, see below), not terribly expensive

I ordered this on impulse and then got scared later by the negative reviews on this and other sites. So the very first thing I did upon opening the package was plug it in my reader and launch H2testw. First of all, I should mention for those that don't understand(and a lot don't!) that class 10 is certified somewhat differently than the other classes. For class 2, 4 and 6 the number means minimum megabytes per second sustained write to a FRAGMENTED card. For class 10 it means 10 megabytes per second write sustained to an UNFRAGMENTED card. Since I tested this card first thing out of the box it was certainly in said unfragmented state. The results I got were 8.33 Mbytes/s average write(making it something like a class 8) and 18.8 Mbytes/s read. For my use the read is far more important than the write so this satisfies me easily.

Cons: Not QUITE Class 10. More like Class 8. Except there isn't a Class 8.

IMPORTANT: I have read reviews of this card on MANY sites and seen ONLY ONE report of it writing at or greater than 10 Mbytes/s. So if you buy it expecting that then I think you will be disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I have a 2GB Class 4 Kingston microsd and the results of it's tests were 6.92 Mbytes/s write and 10.2 Mbytes/s read which if you notice is preforming well enough to make it class 6. Still the class 10 preforms a lot better on the read side and didn't break the bank so I am happy. IF this new 8gb class 10 were to fail on me I will be upset, especially since as mentioned it will be written very lightly and read quite a lot. So far Kingston has not disappointed me, but should they do so it's a one off deal. I take my data very seriously and losing it is not acceptable.

3 out of 5 eggsVery misleading!

Pros: None really, I mean it's a 8G microSDHC.

Cons: Kingston brands this microSDHC as a class 10?! That's rubbish, I tested using h2testw and it averaged only 6.8mbps (writing)!!!!!! And reading was OK at best 13.2mbps. I kind of want a refund, rip off if you tell me.

Other Thoughts: I have other ADATA class 10 microSDHC, and they perform as they should write speeds of 13+ mbps and read ~18mbps.
