Kingston's HyperX SSD combines the latest SandForce controller technology with premium NAND Flash, reducing load times while increasing performance and endurance. It provides high-speed SATA Rev 3.0 (6Gb/s) transfer speeds for larger bandwidth, which power users require for advanced gaming, multitasking and multimedia computing power. Kingston's HyperX SSD lets users load games and applications faster, increase frames per second (FPS) and quickly transfer and edit large media files. It's cool, silent and requires less power and no additional cooling requirements.

HyperX SSD uses an advanced wear leveling technology that distributes writes evenly across all the flash blocks in the SSD to maximize overall drive endurance. Additionally, wear leveling ensures that the individual Flash memory blocks are consumed at a very balanced rate, not to exceed a 2-percent difference between the most often written blocks and least written. This enables the HyperX SSD to provide the longest possible life for the user while maintaining optimal performance.

  • newegg Built for Speed Kingston's HyperX SSD uses the latest generation SandForce SF-2281 controller with native support for SATA 6Gb/s, combined with Intel 25nm compute-quality MLC NAND (5k P/E Cycles). The HyperX SSD delivers outstanding read/write performance and significantly faster system response, boot times, and application load times than SATA 2 solid-state drives, with out-of-box performance of sustained 60K Random Write IOPS, read speeds of up to 555MB/s and write speeds of up to 510MB/s.
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to maximum performance, a HyperX SSD upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. HyperX SSDs work in perfect harmony with next generation platforms and operating systems to deliver the ultimate storage solution.
  • newegg Trim Support The HyperX SSDs feature support for the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The HyperX SSD features a standard 2.5-inch form factor for compatibility with notebooks and select desktops. A 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket is included with the SSD for compatibility with standard hard drive mounting.

5 out of 5 eggsDied, but was replaced the same week

Pros: Ran with no problems for almost 2 years.
Big and Fast.
Awesome Drive.

Cons: It did fail after 20 months of use, multiple Windows 7 and 8 installs, and lots of space eating games.

Other Thoughts: When it died, Kingston support was great!!! I sent it back on monday, they replaced it on that Friday with a sh103 :)
Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsPlease read

Pros: Fast, fast and fast.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I waited a long time to post this review. I have 3 of these SSD @ 240gigs, I started with one then two in a raid 0 now 3. it has been a year and I steal get 1200MB write and 1500MB reads, I had a OCZ 60 gigs just for CacheCade but it went south.
I wish people would wait a little longer before they post their reviews here.

5 out of 5 eggsJesum H Crow

Pros: -Easy installation
-You get what you pay for(also seen cons)
-Increases Windows Score(if that matters to you)
-Near instant restart
-Applications practically open before you click on them

Cons: -Can be a bit pricey, but honestly you get what you pay for. An SSD is recommended for avid gamers, computer enthusiasts, and generally people who have an extra buck to spend.
-May be difficult to install without proper research

Other Thoughts: Honestly, it is a purchase that you need to think about. If you want increased performance with a brand-name to back up reliability, then look no further. I would highly recommend this to anyone who plays video games, does video or image editing, or just the computer enthusiasts.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, just wow!

Pros: Wow. I had high expectations for the SSD, but it blew me away. Windows starts before the windows logo animation finishes. The difference between using AHCI and IDE is extremely noticeable, and the 7.9 (max score) that Windows gives to this drive is very well deserved.

I had one BSOD while trying to tweak the overclock settings of my 2500K, so I updated the firmware, just in case that might have an impact. I have had no issues otherwise, and I don't think the drive was responsible for the one BSOD I've had.

Kingston went the extra step with the packaging, making the box, presentation and drive all look like it's worth what you need to pay for it. Unless it's price or the limits of SATA III, you'd have a hard time finding something to complain about with this drive.

Cons: Obviously, I thought it was worth what I paid for it, as I did buy it. I could list the rebate as a con, as I'm not a fan of those, and I think, at times, this drive is limited by the SATA III interface, but barring price, interface limits and the rebate, I have nothing to complain about, hence the five eggs.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended to be used in AHCI mode. Anyone buying this to use in IDE mode should save their money and buy a cheaper and slower SSD.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Drive Problems installing

Pros: Very Fast once you have it installed. I have it on SATA III controller with a Windows Experience of 7.9 for the Drive. I am running a Sabertooth X58 with a i7 990 processor. Machine is very fast.

Cons: Very difficult to install due to lack of specific instruction. You must have AHCI on the SATA enabled or you get the BSOD(It happened to me) and you must install Windows after after you have the Bios SATA set to AHCI if not you will run into problems. Would have given this drive a 5 if I would have had the proper information installing it. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Other Thoughts: I figured the problem out and was not able to boot in AHCI, I had to redo my computer which I had to re-add everything. If you do not enable AHCI on this drive as a boot drive you will get the BSOD. I tried a SSD copy program which did copy but Windows would not start for me. I found out later that Windows disables AHCI drivers unless you edit your registry first(found out after the fact) or you install Windows 7 AHCI is enabled.

2 out of 5 eggsReliability problems

Pros: Very Fast

Cons: Reliability issues. See comments

Other Thoughts: I have purchased two of these drives for two separate home PCs, in both cases the OS is installed on the SSD on ASUS system boards z68 v-pro and z68 deluxe gen3. On both machines after a week or so of operation the machine just locks, no BSOD, just locks (black screen). i have most recent bios on system board. i've updated the drive firmware to 3.3.2 and the v-pro seems stable, and the gen3 is not. on boot it will not pass with SMART enabled, so i've disabled SMART and it will boot, but now windows is reporting drive errors (leave pc running with no use - come back in the morning and there is the error on screen.

Would like a fix as i prefer to spend my time other than installing OS and sw all afternoon.

5 out of 5 eggsNo BSOD for me, blazing fast

Pros: - blazing fast, SATA 6Gb/s
- no BSOD with new firmware
- nice sturdy construction
- looks great
- even the "stand-alone" drive comes with a blue 2.5"-to-3.5" bracket, so you don't need to buy one (but see Con)

Cons: - the screw holes on the 2.5"-to-3.5" bracket are not in standard locations like they would be on a 3.5" hard-drive, this matters if you use a hot-swap capable case
- the screw holes on the drive itself are some strange size (I think M2.5 maybe?, but definitely NOT standard M3 like other drives), again, this matters for hot swap trays

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive for a new PC build. I really like this drive. It's my 3rd SSD, my previous two were Intel brands which have been working flawlessly, so I was really concerned about the BSOD issues with all the Sandforce drives. First thing I did was upgrade the firmware to rev 332 (which shows up as 332ABBF0 on the drive after the upgrade). I've been running benchmarks of all kinds, stress tests, and playing Skyrim for over 2 weeks and not a single BSOD !! No issues putting PC to sleep (like others reporting here). No issues at all.

On my system, with AS SSD Benchmark, I get 511MB/s SEQ READ, 295MB/s SEQ WRITE, and an overall Score of 747. It just blows away my previous generation SSD (which were SATA 3GB/s).

Some things to note:
- in my motherboard BIOS, I have the SATA port set to "Hot Plug" disabled for this drive - I read that this was causing BSOD for some people, so I disabled it

Asus Maximus IV Extreme
CPU 2600k
Corsair 16GB
GTX 580
Corsair 800D

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I was expecting

Pros: Lightning quick. 7.7 on win7.

Cons: The computer cannot come out of Sleep with this drive. The computer will have a BSD once a week.

Never had these problems with a standard drive.

I don't care that I cannot sleep the computer because the computer now boots with SSD in less than 15 seconds and shutsdown in less than 8 seconds. haha...

Other Thoughts: HP Envy17, Win7 64bit, ATI 5850, 8GB Ram.
