HyperX SSD uses an advanced wear leveling technology that distributes writes evenly across all the flash blocks in the SSD to maximize overall drive endurance. Additionally, wear leveling ensures that the individual Flash memory blocks are consumed at a very balanced rate, not to exceed a 2-percent difference between the most often written blocks and least written. This enables the HyperX SSD to provide the longest possible life for the user while maintaining optimal performance.

  • newegg Built for Speed Kingston's HyperX SSD uses the latest generation SandForce SF-2281 controller with native support for SATA 6Gb/s, combined with Intel 25nm compute-quality MLC NAND (5k P/E Cycles). The HyperX SSD delivers outstanding read/write performance and significantly faster system response, boot times, and application load times than SATA 2 solid-state drives, with out-of-box performance of sustained 60K Random Write IOPS, read speeds of up to 555MB/s and write speeds of up to 510MB/s.
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to maximum performance, a HyperX SSD upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. HyperX SSDs work in perfect harmony with next generation platforms and operating systems to deliver the ultimate storage solution.
  • newegg Trim Support The HyperX SSDs feature support for the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg HyperX Upgrade Kit The kit includes everything you need for a smooth upgrade, including Acronis True Image HD migration software, mounting brackets and cables.

2 out of 5 eggsFailed after 3.5 years of use

Pros: Worked great right up to the last time it booted.

Cons: If you want to get this SSD and don't expect a life expectancy greater than what I got out of it, then this SSD is for you. Warranty was for 3 years - go figure. Lost all data and this SSD is totally dead.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years Strong & Fast SSD -

Pros: Hands down adding a SSD for your OS drive is the best speed improvement for any PC with 8GB of RAM of more. You can see and feel the difference it is night & day major speed improvement.

SSD speeds, stable, 4 years later still going strong!

Came with cloning software & mounting tray, housing for old drive to use as USB drive, w/ nice aluminum screwdriver.
Large enough for Win 7 Pro 64 bit & office plus all of my software at a very reasonable price.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Read the directions or do your home work. The SSD goes inside of your PC - the old drive becomes an external drive if you do not have any more SATA ports or have a laptop. Set your BIOS to AHCI *** before you clone your drive for best performance. If you chane port to ACHI after you clone, Windows Will NOT Boot! You will either have to edit the registry or Reinstall the image. ****NEVER defrag or optimise a SSD it just causes undo wear to the memory chips.

3 out of 5 eggsPricing Mistake...??

Pros: Average SSD. Keeps up with the rest.

Cons: PRICE!!! $349 for 120 GBs. That's got to be a misprint, right Newegg? I got mine for $99 6 months ago.

Other Thoughts: This is a "solid" solid state drive and does what it's supposed to do. But, if the price I am seeing here is correct, that would be ridiculous. That's over $2 per GB. I hope it is just a misprint as I got mine for $99. Most SSD's are around 70 - 80 cents per gig now a days and continue to drop. DON'T BUY IT AT THIS PRICE unless you are in the market for a booty intrusion.

5 out of 5 eggs2 Years and Counting

Pros: Excellent SSD. Excellent speed and reliability. I have had for over two years now and use the computer daily.

Using AS SSD Benchmark utility, I was able to get a score of 167(R) and 207(W). Individual scores were: 467MB/s Seq Read, 160MB/s Seq Write, 0.123ms Read Acc. time, and .357ms Write Acc time.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: You must use the Windows utility to partition and format this drive. I had to learn this the hard way. Do not use the software that comes with the drive if you are installing Windows 7 64-bit.

5 out of 5 eggsBuying another

Pros: Love the speed.
Internet is much more snappier.
Games run faster.
Very fast read and write speeds.
I am buying another one (read other thoughts)

Cons: Price? is that a con?

Other Thoughts: I am buying the standalone version of this one. I really love the speed of this SSD. I want to Raid-0 them together for bigger main drive space. One of these is just enough for windows, apps and only 1 MMO, like WoW or SWTOR. If I had 2 of these I could install another MMO and maybe a few more games for sure. I am just waiting for Newegg to restock these SSD's since they are getting sold out quick.

5 out of 5 eggsalmost a year now, perfect

Pros: Has worked flawlessly for almost a year now. I had one BSOD like the first day, my fault (during Windows 7 64-bit install), none since. I use my system daily for at least 3+ hours. This drive runs cools, everything opens instantly. I would not hesitate to purchase another Kingston

Cons: None, absolutely none

Other Thoughts: I am surprised that the price is still this high. I think I paid around $200 after the rebate. It listed at $240 at the time, so this is a good price drop. But you get what you pay for. I tried another ssd first at a lower price, it had received positive press but had a rep for BSODs, and that's exactly what I got, one BSOD after another. This drive has been absolutely problem-free.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and fast

Pros: Much faster than a HD. I was blown away about how much faster this computer is, the windows boot animation in windows 7 doesn't even have time to finish. Games load a lot faster too, great drive. Also doesn't make ANY noise at all.

I bought this in December of 2011 and I have had none of the problems that I have read about with SSD's.

Mine had a mail-in rebate and I had no problem getting the rebate.

Cons: Expensive, I was hoping to buy a second one because my first is getting full. But the price is still over $200, I was hoping for more of a drop. The price currently is pretty much the same price I paid after mail-in rebate in December.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome, Solid Drive

Pros: Incredibly fast. As fast as the fastest sandforce drives. No (newegg is making me use a term other than "B" and "S") where the transfer rate plummets at 50% capacity like the Vertex 4 drives. Rock solid reliability. No issues at all. Compare the 1 star reviews of this drive and those of OCZ, and even though OCZ is a much more popular brand, tell me which one you would trust your data with.

Cons: Somewhat higher price than other drives when it's not on sale, though well worth it. Tell me if the price premium was worth it when your OCZ drive fails in a month.
Not one of the biggest names in the SSD space, but just take a look at its reliability ratings compared to the other more popular brands.

Other Thoughts: I know, I was like- Kingston? But I picked this drive up on sale in December of last year and I couldn't be happier with it. No blue screens, no problems resuming from sleep, and most importantly, no data loss. This has been an exemplary drive from the very beginning, just make sure you have the latest firmware update.

I'm looking to get a 200GB+ class SSD in the near future and all signs are pointing to another Hyper X drive

Pros: After 9 months it's still very fast. No problems at all.

Cons: Same as all SSD's $$
