3 out of 5 eggsNot for Cisco ASA5505

Pros: Kingston RAM is usually great. If this DIMM was acceptable the to device I'm sure it would work perfectly.

Cons: Does not work in Cisco ASA5505 with 8.4(3) firmware, though in theory it should.

Other Thoughts: FYI everyone, Kingston/Crucial/Etc RAM is not a sure bet for Cisco ASAs as they often change silicon manufacturers. I picked up this 1G Kingston DIMM that has Elpida chips and it doesn't work. Likewise with Micron chips (Crucial). The ASA BIOS recognized the Micron chips but the tailored Linux kernel Cisco uses for the ASA5505 8.4(3) image only has Infineon/Qimonda identifiers coded and rejects anything else. An Infineon HYS64D128320HU-5-B ($20) DIMM will definitely work. That's something like $200 cheaper than the Cisco part.

5 out of 5 eggs...so sad

Pros: I was picking up some ram for an old PC when i stumbled up on another review here. Its DDR ram with a great warranty...what i cant understand is why someone puts a 1 egg rating...marks a maximum tech knowledge level and recommends getting DDR3. DDR3 will not work in a board for DDR. Anyone buying DDR is buying it for an old PC because I don't think DDR motherboards are even available anymore.

Cons: The moral of my story....Don't give a bad rating and lie about your tech knowledge. Kingston is no performance brand by any means but it is a solid brand of decent memory with great warranty service. No reason to hurt its rating because of misinformation.

Other Thoughts: I know this isn't the place for discussions, but i want to clarify that this item is exactly what it states and you should not buy DDR3 if your system is made for DDR. You will just end up sending it back and wasting your time.

5 out of 5 eggsKingston reliability.

Pros: I've owned two of these sticks for 4 years now. Never had an issue. Used extensively in a gamer's box for countless hours in FPS (BF2, BF2141), Oblivion, NWN2, etc.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The reliability of these sticks made me a Kingston customer for rigs I built for friends / family until I needed lower cost / longer warranty DDR3 than Kingston had. Of course, I never needed the warranty - they're still running 4 years later.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's A Newegg

Pros: Yet another perfect experience from newegg. I work for an IT company and we get products from a bunch of different vendors, and I must say, NewEgg is always the easiest to deal with, and often times the cheapest.

Cons: It is what it is. 1 Gig DDR ram.
