4 out of 5 eggs1st venture into SSD

Pros: low power
good price
silent
cool

Cons: only gives 5.9 in win7 Index
was only 30GB instead of 32GB

Other Thoughts: This has definitely improved the responsiveness of win7. Full install and updated OS and I still have 18GB free. Installed most of my everyday apps excluding games which are seated on a samsung 1tb drive. works great and there's no need for readyboost as the drive is as fast

3 out of 5 eggsGET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Pros: -Speeds a tad better than a 7200rpm 2.5" drive
-Network file copying is 2/3 faster
-Price, maybe

Cons: NOT ACTUAL SPEEDS POSTED
read is about 110m/b s
write is about 20m/b s

Other Thoughts: Not too bad for the price, but they could be faster and brand new it already had 35k of dead flash!!! not alot of space but it looks bad.

5 out of 5 eggsRaid 0 array

Pros: These drives get the job done quite nicely! Especially in the raid 0 array. Applications open in one forth the time or less when compared to other high end systems I have built.

Cons: Price to performance ratio is fair but I still wish they were less expensive.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these drives in a raid 0 array as my primary drive, and two 10,000 rpm 74GB WD Raptors in a raid 0 array as a secondary drive. Where I work we use GibbsCAM software and on those systems it takes 10 to 15 seconds for the software to load.
On this system, less than 2 seconds!!!

Phenom II 550 Black Edtion running 3 cores @ 3.6GHz stable, on stock fan and heatsink.
(runnng 2 cores @ 3.9 stable)
Highest temp I've seen is 105 degrees
runnng Windows performance index.

Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard
4GB GSkill DDR3 1600MHz memory
runnng onboard graphics

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very fast and very silent unless you put your ear to the drive. doubled the life in my notebook from 4 hours to about 7.5 which i love about this drive. amazingly fast and a must buy for any performance computer. as long as your computer has a sata port you will see a performance increase. durable and better looking with no wasted spinup time like a mag drive

Cons: first was killed by shippers but the second is great and i also have a 64gb pqi that is also great. small but the best value ssd on the market. no TRIM support but with the money i have saved i can buy 2 for the price of an ssd with TRIM.

Other Thoughts: I will be buying more for my servers now.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Introductory SSD

Pros: -Relatively Inexpensive
-Fast Read Speeds

Cons: -Relatively Slow Write Speed
-Requires OS tuning

Other Thoughts: To maximize the SSD in Windows XP, you'll need to disable the following:

Pre-fetcher, system indexing, disk caching, system restore, time stamp, NTFS change journal, and hibernation.

With these tweaks, it minimize how often the OS unnecessarily write to disk, thus creating less micro-stuttering.

Also, if you are using Firefox as your main browser, you'll need to disable disk caching and enable memory caching instead.

In my Windows XP 64-bit, I get about 100 MB/s Read and 36 MB/s write. The write performance is the major downside of this SSD, since many hard drives can out perform that. However, given the price, it is a reasonable trade-off for the fast read speeds.

Lastly, the SSD is not formatted, so the OS will not recognize it right out of the box. To format it in XP, you go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Disk Management.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD on the cheap

Pros: (Relatively) inexpensive, shock proof, quick, low power draw, RoHS. The included cable, while I won't be using it with the drive, is handy. The drive was packaged nicely and was a treat to unbox :D

Cons: More a fault of the technology than the product but its rather pricey. The drive itself is rather basic with no auto wear leveling, cache, or other frills.

Other Thoughts: I installed this in a Asus 1000he and I'm getting crazy fast boot times with Ubuntu. Overall this is not an excellent drive, but it is satisfactory. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid state drive on a budget.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Its a no brainer to use.

Cons: Drive can get confused.

If it stops working remove the drive and connect it up using the USB port. This seems to clear whatever the error is and when you reconnect using SATA plugs it works again.

Must use the tiny USB plug on the drive itself.

Other Thoughts: Some mention should have been made to the fix it took me a while to find.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little SSd

Pros: Great price. Nice speed.

Cons: No complaints as of yet,

Other Thoughts: Just put this ssd in a Eee 900ha since I travel quite alot and this little pc gets knocked around somewhat. Installed linux mint in about 5 minutes from a flash card. Boot time was cut down to about 1/4th the time. Programs load much faster.
