3 out of 5 eggsLong pauses

Pros: It's so fast. Windows 7 Ultimate boots in under 20 seconds.

Cons: I have been getting these long pauses where it seems to be freezing the whole OS for anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes. I've tweaked a lot of settings in bios but can't find a whole lot of help from PQI on the issue.

Other Thoughts: I was given this drive as an unexpected birthday present (they of course bought it from NewEgg) and was really ecstatic at first, but these freezes are really annoying.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Priced aggressively (when I bought it.)

Cons: Failed irrecoverably after less than a month of light use.

Significantly slower than my OCZ Vertex (which I expected) and even an old 7200 RPM mechanical drive (which surprised me.)

Other Thoughts: I've had nothing but great experiences w/ SSDs until this one, and this one got the easiest load of all the others. (My OCZ 30G and G-Skill 128G are both OS drives, rock-solid. This one failed while idling.)

We'll see whether pqi is helpful with an RMA, but if their website is any indication I'm going to have to ship to Taiwan at my own expense, and wait who-knows-how-long for a replacement.

I've always liked pqi RAM, but I will steer clear of their other products in future.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid State Speed

Pros: Nice and fast. Windows 7 comes out of hiberation ultra fast with this drive.

Cons: Expensive compared to normal drives of comparable capacity, but that's what you get when you buy solid state. Not as fast as it could be--the technology still has to mature a bit more.

Other Thoughts: I read guides claiming that Windows 7 makes various changes to itself to accomodate an SSD. This is *NOT TRUE*, you have to do it yourself. It's not difficult, just run a search on optimization techniques and you can do it easily.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very fast and very silent unless you put your ear to the drive. doubled the life in my notebook from 1.5 hours to 3 which i love about this drive. amazingly fast and a must buy for any performance computer. as long as your computer has a sata port you will see a performance increase. durable and better looking with no wasted spinup time like a mag drive

Cons: small but the best value ssd on the market. no TRIM support but with the money i have saved i can buy 2 for the price of an ssd with TRIM.

Other Thoughts: I am buying another because it is so great

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 9 months

Pros: Very quick read, and quick enough write performance when new using Windows 7.

Cons: Write performance deteriorated so much after 9 months that the drive is unusable. The drive can't buffer a Youtube video without the whole computer freezing up. PQI support says they don't recommend loading an OS on that drive.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good!

Pros: Great speed so far, and no issues with formatting as others have mentioned. I'm running windows 7 on it. From the time I hit the power-switch to actually being fully logged in and loaded is around 20 seconds or less.

Cons: It's tiny. I couldn't mount it in my hard drive rack in my case, I had to lash it to the top. There was absolutely no way to mount it anywhere else. Didn't come with any kind of brackets or anything to mount it with, so that was my only choice.

Other Thoughts: It's a great, fast, inexpensive SSD. I wasn't going to spend 300 bucks on one from Intel or another company when this one does the job just as well.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: It works
I use it to capture SDI and DV video from a live recording.
About 80MB/sec read with blackmagic speed test on P55-UD4P

Cons: Had to reformat once.

Other Thoughts: I originally used this on XP with the SATA interface.
Then I used this on XP with the USB. There were no problems. When I attempted to use this with Windows 7 SATA it could not mount the filesystem. I reformatted it in W7 and now it works on both XP and W7.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This drive is fast, silent, and uses a lot less power than the platter drive it replaced. I installed Server 2008 R2 and my desktop is being displayed before my projector is warmed up. This is by far the most noticeable upgrade I've made to my computer.

Cons: Price per GB is still pretty high, but this drive has plenty of space to install an OS and a couple of frequently used programs. Since I did a clean OS install, I had to format the drive; this took a lot longer than expected. When I formatted my 1TB drives a few months back, they took about 20 mins. This one took 30 mins. for 64 GB.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: * Very fast compared to stock HD: over 2x write speed and almost 5x read speed.
* USB connection makes it easy to transfer data before you install.
* Light, quiet, cool lower power consumption
* Safety (no data loss)

Cons: None (so far)

4 out of 5 eggsPQI SSD

Pros: It is as fast as advertised, little issues when i first got it 3 months ago. Works great with the dual USB cable that is supplied and as SATA... 13 Seconds from cold start to inside windows, amazing!

Cons: It died exactly 2 months into using it, all data was irretrievable. With a conventional drive you rarely see 100% data loss, normally if a drive fails you can get some data back there is many ways to recover data from normal platters! I found out this is not the case with SSD and I lost EVERYTHING!! I trusted it way to much and lost valuable code. PQI’s techsupport attempted a recovery but were unsuccessful, they issued an RMA and replaced it, I was surprised they even tried a recovery as most drive company’s you rarely even get a chance to talk to anyone by phone… I do admit PQI has a wonderful staff and great TECH SUPPORT its just that the technology is still in progress… My advice BACKUP EVEYRTHIGN!

Other Thoughts: Great drive especially since it has USB and can be used in a laptop and as a USB device, this allows great flexibility! I will continue using it because it does save me time in the longrun, maybe it was XP that crashed it dunno will try VISTA on it now...
