Love it
- Pros: * Very fast compared to stock HD: over 2x write speed and almost 5x read speed.
* USB connection makes it easy to transfer data before you install. * Light, quiet, cool lower power consumption * Safety (no data loss)
- Cons: None (so far)
PQI SSD
- Pros: It is as fast as advertised, little issues when i first got it 3 months ago. Works great with the dual USB cable that is supplied and as SATA... 13 Seconds from cold start to inside windows, amazing!
- Cons: It died exactly 2 months into using it, all data was irretrievable. With a conventional drive you rarely see 100% data loss, normally if a drive fails you can get some data back there is many ways to recover data from normal platters! I found out this is not the case with SSD and I lost EVERYTHING!! I trusted it way to much and lost valuable code. PQI’s techsupport attempted a recovery but were unsuccessful, they issued an RMA and replaced it, I was surprised they even tried a recovery as most drive company’s you rarely even get a chance to talk to anyone by phone… I do admit PQI has a wonderful staff and great TECH SUPPORT its just that the technology is still in progress… My advice BACKUP EVEYRTHIGN!
- Other Thoughts: Great drive especially since it has USB and can be used in a laptop and as a USB device, this allows great flexibility! I will continue using it because it does save me time in the longrun, maybe it was XP that crashed it dunno will try VISTA on it now...
- Pros: Fast reads & silent. Very noticeable improvement over standard HD's (was using WD Raptors before). Can be used as a uber thumbdrive when the drive becomes obsolete.
- Cons: Has stuttering/freezing issues with Windows XP. No stuttering when used with Vista or Windows 7. Poor random write performance. Terrible price/GB.
- Other Thoughts: I'm using a pair of these in RAID 0 along with a hardware RAID controller w/ 256MB cache in a desktop. The cache on the controller helps hide a lot of the common performance issues.
