1 out of 5 eggsfail

Pros: none

Cons: Purchased on 1/26/2009 from Newegg.
On second RMA (via PQI) since purchase.
Light use leads to write delay failed, bad sectors, BSOD (Windows), Kernel panic (Debian).
In my experience the MTBF is about 800 hours, NOT 1,500,000 hours.
I absolutely do not recommend this product.

Other Thoughts: Many HDD vendors offer free shipping and handling for returns / RMA's , it would be great if PQI could follow that example. PQI only paid the return shipment.

1 out of 5 eggsDefinitely not the best SSD out there

Pros: It is reasonably fast, sequential reads and writes are reasonably fast

Cons: Stuttered significantly immediately out of the box when it came to multiple actions. Over the past 9 months it's gotten worse and worse, and now it's intolerable as a drive with an OS on it and essentially makes my machine unusable for sequential writes now. If you check any of the technical articles, anandtech or tom's hardware they'll say the same thing. Check out OCZ's vertex or any of intel's disks for cheaper/GB and far better performance without all the performance degradation. If this were cheap that'd be one thing but now the SSD from OCZ (vertex) is the same price/GB and you won't get recommendations from them about how you shouldn't put an OS on the disk.

3 out of 5 eggsstill working on it.

Pros: fast reads and decent writes, and a nice low price compared to others.
intel controller really? if mine wasnt going back to newegg for an rma id crack that puppy open and find out.wouldnt be my first warrenty ive voided.

Cons: worked 2 days and started corrupting, and then died on 4th day.
stuff happens and i know it,so im not blaming the company or design just yet.ill get a replacement once my rma is done and try again.

Other Thoughts: one thing i did learn in all this is to just clone your disk onto the SSD,dont install the OS from scratch.
they do fine with light to moderate writes, but hard pounding on the writes take it to a crawl.
i didnt notice any stuttering or small lockups as much as i saw just slow activity during the install.
if you dont have to have the best and fastest, stick with a 7200 drive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is my second PQI SSD. I ordered a 64 Gig PQI SSD to run XP and Applications. This 128 Gig PQI SSD is running as a dedicated audio drive in my DAW system.
The larger drive is worth every penny for me, a few months ago I lost very important files because of a failed hard drive. It definately is a peace of mind knowing that these SSD's will not die on me and that my files will be very safe for a very long time. You gotta love how fast Windows XP runs with this PQI SSD. I'm very happy with my purchase and hope to purchase a third PQI pretty soon.

Cons: My computer shows 120 Gigs of space that's 8 Gigs not included with your purchase. I was expecting to see somewhere around 124 Gigs so I'm pretty supprised. We'll it's a good thing Newegg lowed the price. Of course I'm pretty sure a raw unpartioned PQI SSD would read around 128 Gigs but who wants to run Pong on this thing anyway:-).

Expensive but worth every penny for the speed and data integrety alone.
