RMA'd
- Pros: Met specifications with no initial problems.
- Cons: But one of them failed after a couple of days. I should have heeded the warnings in the reviews, below.
- Other Thoughts: Except I really don't have many problems with the gobs of great stuff I get from newegg. It makes me laugh to think that electronics this complicated functions at all -- how do they do this? -- and I design these things and am still amazed it mostly works so well.
Garbage
- Pros: Pretty lights
- Cons: Too bad they didn't put bother putting heat sinks on instead of pretty lights. Second attempt with this RAM and it can't make it through MEMTEST at its rated speed and voltage, nor does it work using the SPD settings...
- Other Thoughts: Keep looking. Its cheap for a reason, and your stock once you have it because the newegg return policy is for an exchange, since its fundamentally flawed in design who knows how long it will take you to get 4 sticks that all actually work!
Won't pass MemTest on 2 different machines - RMA'd twice
- Pros: Cheap for the timing (4-4-4-12) and config (4 x 2 GB)
- Cons: The first batch I got couldn't pass MemTest. This was on both a DELL and on a frankenstein system made from newegg parts. I RMA'd it and got a second set which also failed, but at a later point in the MemTest suite. Became suspicious with second set when Vista 64-bit was blue-screening with "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" error messages. I have tried all the settings I can with my MOBO. Time to return it for something that works. I suppose this could be an incompatibility of some sort with my MOBO, but it seems fishy to me.
- Other Thoughts: I would like to run this with a P6N SLI Platinum board running quadcore CPU, but no such luck. Back to my 4 gigs of AData for now.
