5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in Dell Studio XPS 9000

Pros: Cheap and works as advertised.

I've bought about 120GB (not a typo, about 20 sets) of this memory for a business.

Only one failed stick so far, Newegg RMA process took a week on that, but I had enough to go around so no problem there.

Cons: Could it be cheaper?

Other Thoughts: DOAs happen. Don't take off a star unless you get two in a row. UPS destroys packages on a regular basis.

5 out of 5 eggsDDR3 prices are outragous...

Pros: *See my previous review*

Cons: The price?!

Other Thoughts: The price on these has shot up like crazy?! What is going on? In the last 6 months this same kit has gone up 62% (I bought this for $84 back in June w/o a mail-in rebate!) This isn't Newegg's fault because market wide DDR2 & 3 is doing this but wow...if I would have known this last summer I would have bought 100 kits and started selling them on flee-Bay right about now for that good of a profit margin. Someone out there is making a lot of money right now while you and I "Joe consumer" are getting 0wned. I say give DDR3 another 6 months and wait for the market to stablize.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat ! but not plug and play

Pros: This was my first kit of GeIL. I usually go with 0CZ but the price was right and I am not disappointed. Its great to see how much RAM prices have come down. At first it defaulted to 1033 8-9-9-22 so just like DDR2 900+ you have to set the timings manually in your bios to get the full DDR3 1333. I have these in a new i7 920 build (GA-EX58-UD3R) and they work like a champ. I liked not having to increase vdim to get 1333, keeps the heat down and gives more room for OC'ing---if your into that.

Cons: I'm not sure if this is a con but CPU-Z says the SPD timings for 667MHz (1333) are 9-10-10-25 while I noticed GeIL's website says they are 9-9-9-24. I haven't tried tightening the timings beyond 9-9-9-24 but those are both prime stable. No biggie...this computer wont be used for anything intense.

Other Thoughts: They came in a pretty box.
I have not tried OC'ing and this computer is going to be an office computer....so I want everyone to take a moment of silence and picture an i7 920 rotting in a cubicle for the next 5-7 years...sniff...sniff....what a pity....

If your all about timings I saw that GeIL makes the same kit with 7-7-7-24 timings...which makes me wonder whats holding these back....hhmmm...
