1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: heats sinks look good

Cons: but its not a painting, and i expect better quality control.
unit was doa.

Other Thoughts: when one has a copper contact pad missing, dont let the product ship. RMA's are as fun as the dentist.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: It's RAM

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: I had no issues; popped it in and away I went. I should mention that this is installed in my Freenas server since I needed the extra muscle for ZFS given the amount of storage I have.

Been working fine for about 6 months with no issues. Seems a lot of folks had issues, but then I am not installing this in a "performance" system (and probably wouldn't, maybe I'm a snob)

2 out of 5 eggs1 Stick Failed in 3 months

Pros: Was a smoking deal when I purchased it. Added it to my system for a total of 32gb.

Seemed easy to configure and ran perfectly for 3 months

Cons: One stick died 3 months in. Windows starting blue screening and throwing file corruption errors.

Memtest indicated one of the sticks was bad.

Newegg was unable to assist with the "lifetime warranty" and directed me to the mostly defunct Geil USA customer service.

I managed to get an RMA set up with Geil and sent my memory (they required the whole kit for replacement) off to their address in CA. Since the original email authorizing the RMA, I haven't heard anything from them. My emails have gone unanswered for several days now, and there isn't a 1800 number to contact them for an update.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully this is just a one time occurrence of failing sticks. I wouldn't be so bummed out if they were more communicative about the RMA process.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsdo not recommend

Pros: it doesn't work, in BIOS showing latency time 11-11-11 which should be 9-9-9 and also frequency should be 1600MHz but BIOS showing 1333. When trying to run Windows 7 every time I can see only blue screen of death. After replace this memory to different brand no more problem. Trying to call GeIL directly and say about the problem I reached answering machine, the voice was saying that somebody call you back when you leave your ph#, name and description of problem. No call back, waiting almost a week now. That was my last purchase from GeIL.

Cons: they are not working

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

1 out of 5 eggsdon't buy this product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Pros: none, since they are not working

Cons: I bought 4 sticks and 3 out of them are not working/bad, so they sell junks, and newegg's customer service guy knows that, they just don't want to help you to replace or refund it. so my suggestion, don't ever buy this product!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAM

Pros: stable and nice ram. put in in the mobo and defaulted to 1600hz. not sure why people have problem with it. got it for a nice deal at $61.99 nice color too. the heat sink is a little tall, but looks awesome. lifetime warranty is a plus also.

Cons: none... this ram is awesome for the price.

Other Thoughts: used it on a asus p8p67 deluxe with a 2600k.

2 out of 5 eggsSo-So

Pros: Ram was cheap, and it looks nice.

Cons: One stick was dead, but the computer would only crash when placed under memory-intensive loads. second stick was good.

Other Thoughts: Will update this whenever Newegg gets around to sending my replacement. Gave it two eggs because it seems as if I'm not the only one with this problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Sorry to hear that. All GeIL memory modules are covered by our limited life-time warranty, so please feel free to contact us about obtaining a brand new replacement kit if needed. Send us an email, and give us a chance to service you. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggs5 out of 6 worked

Pros: Got it on sale, which saved me $70+ on the order.

Cons: 1 Dead stick out of 6, which while understandable is still a con. My biggest con though is the size of the heatsink on this model. I'm all for maximum cooling, but these are just too tall. I moved from Ripjams to these to double my ram and was forced to change coolers. That being said, the money I saved made the cooler upgrade not hurt as much, but still; be aware the heatsinks are pretty tall.

Other Thoughts: I took an egg off for the oversized heatsink design.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Ram!

Pros: The red color is really nice! I love the design and color, the pictures don't do it any justice. Easy to install, works without problems and I recommend this for everyone. I got the Ram while it was on sale but I would definitely pay the full price.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsSo I think one stick is bad but...

Pros: I bought these on sale, $61 + free shipping meant I could max out my rig (32GB) for just over $120!

Cons: I THINK one stick is bad... but let's start from the beginning because this is a long long tale.

I plug all 4 sticks in, turn the machine on and it comes up with the full 32GB but at 1333 speed. No big deal, this happens all the time where the ram defaults to a "safe" JEDEC setting and you just have to tweak it to the proper timings in BIOS. No biggie.

Set it to the XMP defaults (manually, my mobo will SHOW the XMP settings, but won't automatically set it that way). For anyone that needs to know, the full timings are 9-9-9-27-38 at 800 (1600)mhz. I do so and my computer is dead. Won't even post. Double check settings many times, double check volages, etc all fine. Nothing.

So I bump the voltage to 1.6v and whalah! It boots! Great, but I don't want to overvolt my ram.

Thinking it must just be a bad stick I begin by pulling out the last one, set the timings correct manually, turn on the PC and boom everything works great! So the culprit must be a bad stick! (continued in other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Here's the part where I'm not sure if it's a bad stick. The plan was to remove another stick, and put the "bad" one back in to see if it was the single stick's fault (only had a 25% chance to get it right on the first try which is why I'm not positive it is) and see if it would boot fine then. That would tell me if the ram itself was to blame, or if maybe I have a motherboard problem (or possibly even a voltage problem).

So I remove another stick, put the "bad one" back in and... nothing. Absolutely nothing, I wasn't getting any power to any of my system. I cycled the power button and power switch on the back several times and my PC was just dead. I can't afford another PC so soon (just built this one) so I pray to the computers goddesses that if the computer miraculously started working again I'd just put all the ram back in and run it at the slower speed. The difference in ram speed between 1333 and 1600 is pretty low in realistic scenarios... I can live with that. Somehow, someway those computers godesses answered me and my computer came back to life. Honoring my pledge, I gave up with messing with the ram any more for now, if it runs in 1333 without crashing from here on out I'll just deal... I still have weeks to RMA if need be which I might still end up doing... Runs windows memory diagnostic fine and nothing else seems to be amiss.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Have you tried running the "bad" module in all other slots? Sometimes certain DiMM slot(s) undervolts and can cause this problem. And btw, your GeIL RAM modules are covered by our limited lifetime warranty, so you can feel free to contact us to obtain a RMA# should you have any issues with GeIL memory in the future. Thank you
