Just like corsairs were the fastest ships on the ocean, Corsair memory is the fastest memory around. This 4GB kit of PC2 6400 memory will handle anything you can throw at it. Each pair is tested together at 800MHz, so you know there will be no problems running them in dual-channel mode. This is the ultimate kit for gamers and others that need the best memory out there for their 64-bit systems.

To keep everything running cool these modules use the DHX (Dual-Path Heat Exchange) technology. The heat removing PCB is surrounded by Corsair's signature heat sink with fins and ribs for maximum surface area for heat dissipation. These combine to give you cool running memory even under heavy loads. So game hard, game long, your memory can handle it.

  • newegg CORSAIR XMS2 Series TWIN2X DDR2 SDRAM The cutting-edge XMS2 series DDR2 memory from Corsair provides the best performance and reliability solution for any DDR2 motherboard. The Twin2X modules are tested in matched pairs at very aggressive latency settings for optimum performance and compatibility.
  • newegg Dual-path Heat eXchange Technology Corsair-exclusive Dual-path Heat eXchange (DHX) technology utilizes two methods to effectively remove heat from the memory circuit board for maximized heat dissipation, resulting in enhanced reliability, stability and performance capability even in the most extremely overclocked memory module.

5 out of 5 eggs6 years and counting!

Pros: Bought 4x2GB of the exact same model in December 2008 to accompany my Intel Q9550. They are still working as they should, never had ANY problems with them, not even once.

Cons: Absolutely nothing

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going

Pros: Been working on an almost continuously since 09/2011. The only time my system is turned off is when the power goes out or I am updating hardware/software. Never had a glitch from these sticks.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Don't understand why people are giving bad reviews because of the height. If you have a slim line or little clearance in your case for standard memory with on heat sinks, how can you blame newegg or corsair when you can see the heat sink is almost 1/3 higher than the height of the memory without them. That is your fault not the companies.

5 out of 5 eggsDDR2 XMS2 Corsair Review

Pros: - Fast for what it is (DDR2 800)
- Decent Latency
- Easy to install
- Cooling allows for *minor* overclock
- LONG lasting (original sticks still great after 5+ years)

Cons: - Hard to find
- Getting expensive per GB compaired to the newer/faster DDR3
- Wish they came in 2 x 4 GB???

Fact of the matter is that DDR2 is getting more expensive and the number of manufacturers is dwindling. Much like trying to find a Model T wheel when they were being mass produced in the early 20th Century and then trying to find one now... The DDR2 RAM, while still good, will be going out of production most likely within this next 10 year cycle.

Other Thoughts: I purchased my first 2 x 2 GB about 5 years ago for about $59.99 and they still run amazingly. Bought the second set just over a year ago and the price was up by $10... now it has gone up more.

IF you are looking into more DDR2, regardless of what brand, you might want to consider upgrading/updating your computer.

2 out of 5 eggsToo tall for my case

Pros: Look Pretty, packaging can be opened and resealed without destroying it.

Cons: Too Tall for small form factor case! Can't say anything about the actual performance, soon as I saw they were too tall to re-install the DVD drive in the case, I pulled them out before powering up the system.

Other Thoughts: I used the newegg memory selector app to choose memory for my Dell optiplex 755 small form factor. They arrived quickly from newegg, I plugged the memory into the sockets and tried to put the DVD drive back into its slot but the memory was so tall it would not go back in. I would think that since the memory finder app knew the exact computer model I was choosing, it would not let me select memory that would not physically fit in the case. Lets hope NewEgg lets me return them.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This was the first of many products that I have ordered from Newegg that had a problem , but handling during shipment may have caused the failure.

Cons: Why am I being charged for return shipment for a DOA item?

5 out of 5 eggsGoing Strong Since 02/2011

Pros: I bought and installed this RAM in my custom PC in February 2011, exactly two years ago. It has worked without a hitch since. I haven't done any overclocking on it, but out of the box I don't think there's a more dependable stick of RAM on the market.

Cons: The heat-fins are fairly large for RAM, so watch the size specs. It wasn't at all a problem for me personally, but I have a buddy who had to adjust his CPU heat-sync in order to get these puppies to fit.

Other Thoughts: I've become a huge fan of Corsair's RAM in recent years, and this product is a big reason for that.

2 out of 5 eggs1st for everything

Pros: Solid Price, heat spreaders.

Cons: height of heat spreaders, chip went bad after two and a half weeks of light use. This is the 1st time in 12 years I've had Corsair RAM go out on me. Usually the systems I build falls under the title Legacy hardware and is replaced with the original install of Corsair RAM still going strong.

Other Thoughts: I did not buy this from NewEgg, but a local store while I was stationed in NY for a build with my son. I ended up moving prior to getting the last parts of the build, the memory was keeped in it's packaging until all parts for the build were recieved. We finished the build once we got to our new home and used the system for about 6-8 hours per week. After about 20 days, the system would blue screen and go into a memory dump while booting up. Tested the RAM and one of the chips tested bad. I removed the bad chip and powered up the system, no more blue screen.

The one piece on the heat spreader height is because the system has a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler (which I did buy from NewEgg) and I had to slide the fan up on the heat sink fins to install the RAM and then slide it back down once the RAM was in place. The fan needed to stay up higher on the heat sink to give the heat spreaders on the chip clossest to the CPU clearance.

I don't want to give this product 1 egg because outside of the one chip going out on me, this RAM was doing great. If it wasn't for the heat spreader causing me to have the 120mm fan on my CPU cooler shifted up about 1/4 inch I would get these chips again. I am not going to drop another $65 on RAM that makes me reposition some of the cooling features I have in the system and prevent optimal performance of those parts. There is a reason I choose the parts I did, and I wish to use them to the fullest extent that I can. Because of this, I'm looking for replacement RAM that doesn't have such a tall heat spreader on them.
