2 out of 5 eggsRegret

Pros: -Inexpensive
-Great performance
-(Initially) Ran at 1600
-Triple-channel compatible w/ Sandy-E and 1st gen i7

Cons: -One stick (of 6 total) failed after 6 months.
--The system will not POST with this stick in by itself.
--If the stick is installed with memory in dual or triple channel, it is not detected and I am missing 4GB.
--If the stick is installed with memory in an adjacent bank (ie bank 5/6 occupied) then neither stick is detected and I am missing 8GB.
-Only 3 of my original 6 sticks run their XMP 1600 profile. Mixing in the other sticks in any configuration eventually pulls a BSOD 124. Prime95 will cause an instant crash. I tried at voltage up to 1.72v with no improvement.
--The 5 remaining sticks that work do all run 1333 at 9-9-9, but don't even run 1600 at 11-11-11, which even generic $20 memory does at 1.5v

Other Thoughts: Writing this review is bitter, because I am a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) and owner of a technology consulting firm in Chicago. I don't build systems for clients, but I do upgrade memory often, and Corsair has never been on the top of my list. I almost always go with OEM memory from Crucial, Hynix, Samsung and occasionally Kingston. I never have call-backs using memory from these manufactures.

Somehow, Corsair made the list for my personal system when I decided to upgrade all 6 of my 2GB Patriot DDR3 1600 modules to 4GB Corsair DDR3 1600 modules. Those Patriot modules ran at 1600MHz since the system was initially built in December 2008, a first-gen Core i7-920 system. They ran flawlessly for 4 years, and looking back, it has been a huge mistake upgrading using these Corsair modules just to get some extra, mostly unneeded additional memory. But last December I had some money to spend on equipment for the business before the end of the year, and this was one of my purchases. 6 months later, they are failing.

I have a Corsair water cooling kit that now concerns me, because if that fails I could be looking at replacing the entire system. I just don't feel, and have never felt, this company provides a professional, let alone business-class product. To add insult to injury, I've seen more Corsair SSD failures than even OCZ, while rarely seeing Intel, Crucial or Samsung SSD failures (I still haven't seen a X25M fail and they've been around nearly 5 years)

5 out of 5 eggsGood solid RAM

Pros: Quality RAM for the price. I also like that they don't have those massive heat spreaders on them and it doesn't seem to affect performance.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: When you install these, check to see what speed they are running at. It might just be my motherboard, but by default they were clocked at 1333 when I installed them, so I had to go into my BIOS and clock them at 1600. They run just fine at their advertised speed. Just a heads up.

Pros: Price when purchased

Cons: Bought this on 11/23/2011, and ti started generating errors/rebooting pc on 5/13/2013.
Memory should last longer than that in a modern system with proper cooling.
