1 out of 5 eggsBad buy

Pros: Ran at advertised settings with no hiccups....

Cons: After about 9 months computer started locking up at the boot screen. After resetting the cmos and moving the sticks around and using a spare 512mb stick i found out that both sticks were bad. I returned them to mushkin hoping for an easy exchange now I'm being told they were discontinued and they can offer me other sets that are much cheaper than what i paid if i spend another 50 bucks.. Dont buy this ram.. I wish i would have looked into it more when i built my computer...

2 out of 5 eggstry this for BSOD's

Pros: WOW, I have the DDR2 800 HP6400 4-5-4-11 w/ EPP, by Mushkin. Which is like the little brother compaired to this. I run 4gig and get the BSOD (blue screen of death). I had to bump up the mhz from 800 to 900 you could probably go less (850) and set the timings to auto let the PC boot if BSOD happens again wait and if not rebooting by itsself then manualy shut down and let it boot on its own (dont change any thing) after several attemps then try another mhz, remember to leave the timings on auto

Cons: I dont have it in my PC

Other Thoughts: Vista Users will usually be the ones to have this problem, some mobos will not boot with 4gig pluged in, remove one, then try, after you find your median clocksettings, shutdown, unplug, and install 4th gig. If no boot try again. Pateince is the key

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry about the issues.
Please visit our forums for help with memory timings and settings. Some boards will be able to run 4 sticks at rated speeds with adjustments to the bios.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAll mushy for Mushkin

Pros: I have this running at 4-4-4-11 at 1006Mhz and it has been perfectly stable for more than a month now. Very happy customer.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I have not tried to push the speed higher since I don't want to press my luck and have lived through too many dead memory modules.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Unstable!!!!

Pros: Nice looking ram and when it runs it works great. Mushkin support is great but I don't know about the QA side of things.

Cons: I have two sets, RMA'd the newer set due to one module that crapped out after 6 months. The new set works but will not reach the 4-5-4-11 timings. So I tried my old set and they will run the 4-5-4-11 timings but with BSOD's and lock ups. Well I get them at any timings that I use. Plus the BIOS does not detect that they are SLI ready.Looks like I have to RMA the old set now. Very inconsistance ram.

Other Thoughts: Stacker 830 nVidia Case, OCZ 750 Extreme Gamer, ASUS Striker Extreme, E6600, Zalman 9700, BFG 8800GTX OC, X-FI, 2x150 raptors, 2x500 WD's

2 out of 5 eggsWork well when new, but check the reviews on how frequently they DIE!!!

Pros: Ran ok but HOT at 5-5-5-11 @ 2.25 Volts 1110 MHz in an Asus Crosshair with AMD 64 5400+ X2 @ 3050 MHz and two XFX nVidia 8800GTS cards @ 3150 MHz. After 5 months of that, I cleared the CMOS setup to run them at a lower voltage and speed so the system wouldn't crash during the winter months. In the summer, I had an air conditioner blowing on the well ventilated side of my Cooler Master Stacker case and I added an extra fan to blow right on the memory modules. I kept my system well cleaned though but after lowering the voltage, the system wouldn't post.

Cons: They don't last very long. Thank Mushkin for the lifetime warranty and get rid of them while you still can.

Other Thoughts: I went with Crucial Ballistix DDR2 SLI compatible 2GB kit. They run at lower voltage, much, much cooler and very good timings, plus they look really cool with the reg/green activity LEDs and the blue LEDs along the base. I have them running at 4-4-3-8 @ 960 MHz and have an observable performance increase due to the lower timings.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked flawlessly for 1 yr (dead now)

Pros: Worked flawlessly and even OCed nicely in the first month, and ran stock after that in my gaming system. (believe me, its cooled well in my rack with conditioned power and climate control.)

Cons: Well, after about a year and not restarting unless I needed to, I decided to restart for an update and got the dreaded C1 post code. Tried ram in 2 mobos I had on hand, same problem. every configuration. Took the ram into work to do further testing, (Im a repair tech) and little luck. What Ive noticed is the system would post with a single, lower clocked memory, like ddr2 667 or 800mhz, but would hang bad on post, not getting past the point where it would count these modules.

Other Thoughts: Well, I didn't expect this memory to post at all when I paired it with a lower clocked memory, but it did, sorta. It more or less confirmed that both modules were flaky or bad, which means Ill have to try to get a manufacturer RMA. I wasnt getting C1 codes when I paired the ram with some known good, but running at lower speeds, but the dreaded C1 was always there with this memory alone or in the first slot.

(oh I did get a 2nd opinion on the memory from a fellow tech and I have 2 expensive paperweights, or future key chains if non-RMAable.) /me shutters.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing is perfect

Pros: Top notch memory with lots of head room.
Price has dropped nicely since 10/06
excellent timings
super warranty

Cons: No memory sticks are perfect. One stick failed after 8mo. and it had never been OCed. Ran the memory @923 on a DFI Infinity 975X/G with an E6600@3.32.

Other Thoughts: Prompt RMA from Newegg, my hero. I'm going to stick to the 5 star rating because the warranty is so good and I don't require perfection. I like it, but require it.

3 out of 5 eggsI disagree!

Pros: Runs at ad speed. Price for 1000/cas4 is pretty low as long as they work.

Cons: Sandra numbers not that impressive for 1000spd cas4 ram. Ran at advertised voltage in well vented/fan cooled case for a month and had failure.

Other Thoughts: none
