Don't buy - stay away
- Pros: Appeared inexpensive, fast rebate processing (you will need rebate money for RMAs)
- Cons: Cheap quality, lots of problems. Purchased 4 pairs or this RAM over the period of six months. All of them caused BSD, system hang on different ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards with Core 2 Duo processors. RMA'd two pairs but still faulty. I am not going to waste my time further. Changing all four pairs with other brands.
- Other Thoughts: This product qualifies for recall, especially batch 97432.
Good RAM
- Pros: Great Ram, running this on my gaming rig, with a mobo that only runs up to 1.95 v for the RAM. says it needs 2.2 v to run at 4-4-4-12 but i was able to force the timing down to 4-4-4-12 @ 1.95 v. runs fast!
- Cons: None atm, besides that its marked at 2.2v needed, a little high.
- Other Thoughts: I would buy it again, if i had a different mobo.
They Break
- Pros: Easy to install, fast when it works, overclocks very well. I have mine up to a little over 900 mhz at stock timing (4-4-4-12). Crucial has a very efficient RMA process.
- Cons: I have ordered this ram twice (for a total of 4 x 1 gb of ram) and one stick ceased to function completely a week later while the remaining 3 all had a problem a month in which seems all to common on forums where the sticks begin to cause random BSOD until you take them out of your computer for a while. Once reinserted, they would work some more but eventually the problem comes back. After RMAing all 4 sticks, the 4 sticks I have now have been working for a couple of months (they sent me slightly different sticks).
- Other Thoughts: If you don't mind RMAing ram then look no further. My friend will probably have to RMA all 4 sticks of his ram soon as well since he has been starting to get random blue screens. It isn't a manufacturing defect that causes this, but a problem with the ram's design. If you have a P35 chipset, then definitely get different ram. If you don't, then it might be worth it to take a chance if this ram is on sale.
