5 out of 5 eggsRam Upg old Dell E1405 Laptop

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: Ram was easy to buy seemed to have great specs.
Secure Packaging
Works as Advertised

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Who hides ram under the keyboard. Dell does, what a pain. Glad I did the upgrade. Breathed new life into my sisters old computer for $40. Along with some other OS tweaks, this was a worthwhile upgrade.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing Mushkin.
We appreciate your feedback and support.

2 out of 5 eggsNot as good as they used to be!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: Mushkin is a top notch RAM producer. Newegg is the BEST computer parts store on earth.

Cons: Mushkin changed the chips on the sticks for this particular model of RAM some time between late 2009 and early 2013. The sticks they are producing now are not as high quality as before and also not as compatible with as many computers.

Other Thoughts: Mushkin should have retired this model number and went with a new model number when they changed chip suppliers for this model.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: 4-4-4-12
price

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: HP Pavillion Laptop, I couldn't change the Frequency in the bios cause HP disable that option... Checked 4gb ram, the Frequency 332.6 MHz instead of 667 MHz, Timing 4-4-4-12.

Basically I'm not using the full potential of the ram.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: Low CAS 4 latency makes it just slightly speedier than the typical CAS 5 at this speed. Just the thing to upgrade an older laptop for use with Windows 7/8.

Cons: Just the price. It's DDR2, so you'll be paying more at this point since it's older and not as widely available.

Other Thoughts: SPD data is read correctly and timings set to 4-4-4-12 in both my Lenovo T61 (model 6460-DUU, BIOS 2.29), as well as my wife's Dell Inspiron 1525 (BIOS A17). Works great in both cases.

5 out of 5 eggsMushkin support is superb.

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: It's ram, the more the merrier.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I initially got a bad shipment of ram but I email Mushkin and almost without question recieved an Rma and got replacement ram quickly. I installed the new ram and computer recognized and booted without a hitch. This is on an Inspiron 1501 so if any one has one it does work with 4gb, long as you have a 64bit operating system you will benefit from the upgrade. I will be a Mushkin user from here on out. My hard drive is beginning to fail so I am looking to a Mushkin SSD as a replacement. Thank you Mushkin, your support was top notch. Yeah I got some bad ram and it sucked waiting for the replacement but it's here, installed and I am very happy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A good deal.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent RAM.

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: Put this on my HP DV2310US. System feels a lot smoother and more responsive now. The tighter timings are really worth it, and the BIOS picks them up without a hitch. Good value for the cost. I don't ever see myself utilizing all the memory within the useful life of this computer. So far memtest is showing no errors.

Cons: I probably should create more swap space if I want to hibernate.

Other Thoughts: Egg Saver shipping has gotten ever so slow. I'm probably only going to do one pass with memtest because I'm impatient.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade for Asus Z96Jm VBI notebook. (barebone laptop)

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model 996618

Pros: Ultra fast and reliable.

Did a MEMTEST86+ with 9 passes without errors.

Not sure if it's because I upgraded for 2gigs to 4gigs or the fact that I went from CL5 to CL4 RAM but my system is much more responsive and quicker and my Kingston V100 64gig SSD seems to transfer faster as well.

Obviously I have a 32bit CPU and a 32bit OS so it's only normal that my system does not use more than 3GB of RAM but it does recognize 4GB of RAM. (not a downside but rather a technological limitation due to 32bit memory addressing)

Windows 7 Pro
Intel 2.16GHz T2600 Core Duo
PCI-E Radeon X1600 256MB (not with 1470MB of Hyper memory)

Cons: That I didn't upgrade earlier.

Other Thoughts: It's as if I have a brand new laptop, yet I purchased it back in Feb 2007.

Amazing what a new OS and maxed out RAM and an SSD will do to a system.

I was considering buying a new laptop but with the upgrades I just purchased, there's no need.
