SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Samsung Data Migration software is extremely easy to use!
Deals with tricky factors nicely
Recognizes 4K formatted source disks

Cons: None, really, except the price. Then again, we all want everything to be next to free...

Other Thoughts: I bought this SSD as part of a desktop refresh. After installing the new drive, I used the Samsung software to migrate my Windows 7 partition to the SSD. Process took all of 15 minutes and I was ready to reboot. Afterwards, Windows boots in less than 10 seconds! I run Handbrake and Freemake pretty heavily and both apps seem to have less lag in their menus. Ripping/trancoding times are basically unchanged for me, since I have the apps writing to an old 1TB SATA drive for temp space.

For comparison, I have an OCZ Agility installed in a simliarly-configured PC. The performance is comparable, but I've noticed read times on the Samsung seem consistently higher than the Agility, which was only a few dollars cheaper. Seems like those extra dollars were a good investment to me.

All-in-all, I've very satisfied with this purchase!

Pros: Makes my MBP mid-2010 run much faster than new!

Cons: Firmware update needs to be done on Windows. Had to attach to a SATA internal slot for Magician to recognize and update the firmware. USB and eSata don't work.

Other Thoughts: So quiet that I sometimes don't know the MBP is on. Google Trim on MBP and download/install program to update TRIM on Mountain Lio.

Pros: Blazing fast boot times, power on and into windows in roughly 10 seconds with win8.

High resource apps start up near instantly. No more load times on any of my 3d software, rendering out to video also going 2-3 times faster.

Great price, is a must for any graphics workstation.

Cons: None! Couldn't be happier with this product.

Pros: Price (169.99): However, i would of probably made another choice at the retail price.

Samsung magician: It can help those with less tech knowledge to tweak the ssd to his optimum settings.

Cons: I think the retail price is a little hi considering other ssd with better performance.

Does not perform like advertised.
SSD was installed as O/S drive and benchmarks shows Max IOPS as 63 000. Significantly lower than the 90 000 advertised. 530 read / 249 write, on par.

Pros: Fast Until It Failed.

Cons: 06/06/2013 UPDATE: So, I went through the warranty procedure with Samsung and I just wanted to give an update. First, I sat on the phone on hold for over an hour just waiting to speak with someone in the right department (BAD SAMSUNG!). Then, the Samsung rep sent me an email requesting information, which I provided. Samsung provided me with a UPS Next Day Air label for free to ship back the drive (GOOD SAMSUNG!). I shipped the drive out on the 06/03/2013. Today, 06/06/2013, I received a replacement from Samsung which is pretty quick (GOOD SAMSUNG!) However, they sent me a REFURBISHED drive !! (VERY VERY BAD SAMSUNG!) I just purchased this drive less than 2 months ago, I think I deserve a NEW replacement, not a REFURB. Not only that, the replacement drive clearly looked used with scratches and marks on it. I am so upset at Samsung! I had a horrible experience with them when I had to get my Samsung Phone repaired as well. Samsung has lost another customer!

Pros: - It is very, very fast. And very responsive.
- Easy to install.
- User friendly software to update SSD's firmware, test speeds, optimize, etc...
- Big capacity, for a SSD.
- Got it on sale so... :D

Cons: - No SATA Cable. But, seriously...

Other Thoughts: Comes in a cool packaging with little stickers :D And Newegg's service is so fast!

Pros: Just replaced an OCZ Agility 3 and put Windows 8 on and it boots up with 10 seconds of pressing the power button. Put BF3 on it too and even that seems to run a heck of a lot better than what it did.

Cons: I didn't get the Pro series. Didn't really look into any tests or anything though.

Pros: Fast, until it failed.

Cons: Too many failures. I expect more from Samsung.

Other Thoughts: As a computer technician, I am careful about what I purchase for myself and my customers. I did my research on this drive and most of the feedback looked promising, but, was quite a bit of talk about drive failures. However, I decided to risk it and give Samsung the benefit of the doubt. I purchased 2 of these drives and setup a RAID mirror for my own workstation. I did a fresh install & changed all the correct configs for SSD usage. Everything worked until a few days ago. From one minute to the next, one of the drives failed. Its a good thing that I had a RAID Mirror so I was able to continue to work, but now I have to deal with Samsung for repair/replacement and I am not looking forward to that. On another note, I purchased a Crucial SSD for my laptop at the same time, and so far no problems there. I think I may have to replace both of these Samsung drives with a different brand as I have lost my confidence in Samsung SSD's.

Pros: in linux box.... way more than I needed.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Really was overkill. Would buy another without a thought. This is the first SSD that was not an Intel.....we will see & time will tell.

Pros: Fast, quick boot vs spinning HDD in laptop. About 10x faster on boot.

Cons: Minimal instructions, couldn't do a fresh install of Win 7 directly to empty drive, had to migrate desktop using latest software from Samsung website. YMMV

Other Thoughts: Needed to update my bios, wouldn't recognize SSD or allow a change to AHCI, after updating bios, win 7 automatically downloaded drivers and then the migration software recognized the SSD, used data cable from another SSD swap and migrated my desktop using the provided software. Bios wouldn't recognize drive for a fresh OS install on empty drive, workaround would be to do a fresh OS install on spinning HDD and use migration software to transfer over, but I wanted to keep the HDD as is just in case the SSD failed for an easy swap back. After migrating desktop, magician 4.0 software allowed me to flash the SSD with the latest firmware.
Would purchase again, got it for $159 @ the egg
