5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's the pro series of from Samsung, which means great quality!

Cons: None. If I had to put something, it would be I wish it was closer to the price of the EVO

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for and this SSD is amazing!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -Easy to install
-Lightweight
-Awesome Performance
-Price was right
-Samsung Magician was ultra helpful and i highly recommend it for anyone who gets this drive.

Cons: -Migration software didnt pickup the SSD(had to use EAUS for migration)
-Had BSOD 50% of the time on startup when i migrated the OS over instead of a fresh install(most likely my fault)

Other Thoughts: Im very happy with this SSD. It is just enough space for all the games and programs i want to load fast.

If your going to get this SSD and use it as your main OS i would highly recommend doing a fresh install for the best results. After i did a fresh install i no longer get BSOD on startup like i did when i migrated it over.

Highly recommend this drive for anyone looking for a huge boost in disk performance.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat can I say? Amazing piece of hardware...

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Obscenely fast (both sequential R/W and random access), very simple installation, easy-to-use bundled software

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: What can I say about this SSD that hasn't already been said?

It's incredible. This SSD actually replaced another SSD in a laptop I bought in 2011. My laptop is an HP Envy 15 with an Intel Core i7 processor (2.4GHz 2760QM, Turbo Boost to 3.5GHz) and 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM. I originally ordered it with an Intel 320 Series 300GB SSD, which is a 3 Gbps drive, but my computer has a 6 Gbps SATA interface, so I wanted to get the most out of it.

They say that after you've experienced an SSD after using a conventional HDD computer for most of your life, you'll never want to go back because HDDs feel very slow in comparison. That is certainly the case, and similarly, once you experience something like the 840 Pro, you'll never want to go back to using anything that *isn't* an 840 Pro because every other SSD will feel slow in comparison.

Even when put up against my old Intel SSD, this drive is absolutely incredible. Honestly, I feel a little guilty because I don't use it to its full potential, but you can feel the speed in absolutely everything you. Everything is instant and happens the exact second you click the mouse button. Loading pictures, videos, anything happens the instant you want it to happen.

If you're looking to get more out of any system, get this SSD. You don't even need to have a 6 Gbps SATA interface to be able to appreciate this drive's power. For most people who aren't copying or moving very large files, random access speed (IOPS) is a much more useful measurement of a drive's speed than sequential read and write. Random access is exactly what it sounds like - IOPS is the number of input and output operations the drive can achieve in one second; basically, how many different places the drive can read to or write to in a single second. That's what really makes an SSD feel faster than a conventional HDD. And this one has an incredibly high IOPS rate.

You will definitely not be disappointed in this SSD. Especially for the price, you really cannot go wrong with it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the price.

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast. Windows 8.1 boots in six seconds. Didn't have to do any kind of intricate optimization; just installed the magician software, set it to whatever the setting was called that favors preserving the life of the SSD over performance (so not even the maximum performance setting), and that's it. Months later, the PC still boots in six seconds. I'm quite pleased.

Cons: It's so pretty that I felt bad about hiding it inside my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsA+

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, reliable, quite, no temp, feather light, improved battery life on my macbook, liked it so much upgraded fam's desktop to one as well and same story.. very good drive imo, they have come along way

Cons: none so far, couldnt be working any better

Other Thoughts: Awesome drive. Installed in macbook aluminum late 2008 model.. Restored timemachine back up on it and fired right up.. Had to search how to enable TRIM for it for mac,, easy to do by following a few commands, recommend searching for how to enable trim on mac osx.. supposedly their is built in 'garbage removal' but the latter of the two is best.. stick with TRIM.. It really made a difference coming from a 750GB WD black 7200 spinner.. No comparison, this SSD pro drive beats it down and then some. Couldnt be happier with my purchase..

1 out of 5 eggsBest of the Best

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: SSD's are simply amazing!

Cons: The Samsung Magician always says that my processor is less than 1GHz so I can not set it to RAPID mode!
I have an I7-4771 and 16gb of memory. The CPU has nothing wrong with it and it clocks at 3.9GHz with CUPID

I bought this for speed and if I can't use it, then it is a waste!
