1 out of 5 eggsSAMSUNG 840 Pro Series Died

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series worked very well during 9 months and now is dead as a brick.

Cons: Died in 9 months while just browsing the web I got a blue Screen and the drive was never seen again by the OS or in the motherboard Bios , dead as a brick

Other Thoughts: I bought 10/13/2014 and it's said:
Warranty
Limited Warranty period (parts): 5 years
Limited Warranty period (labor): 5 years
So, I'm asking for new replacement SSD the same or full refund
Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsfast and reliable

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Been using this for 9 months. I build a primary desktop every 2 to 3 years. This was my first time to build with an SSD drive. This one was highly rated, so I took the gamble. Fast boots and quick Windows 8 response makes me a happy man.

Cons: cost, but I'm sure SSD drives will drop over the next few years

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical. I kept reading and hearing about SSD failures. This one is a "solid" model. Heh.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast write, fast read. Boot speed with Win7 only: 13 sec.
Boot speed with Win7, SWTOR, Office, ACAD: 16sec.
I have been writing/deleting a lot more than I thought I would and the drive is still going strong.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: I have heard that some people are having issues after a firmware update using the Samsung Magician software. I have not installed this software, nor have I ever done any firmware updates. I'm not sure if this applies to my 256GB drive or just the 1TB drive I've seen comments on.

4 out of 5 eggsparts for a gaming computor

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's very light, has very good performance, I loved how much it can handle at once, but of course it is a "Pro Series" so it would make sense

Cons: It only had one problem, but I think it was only just for me it was very unstable at some points. For instance it just stopped working, and it took minutes to turn back on

5 out of 5 eggsJ3S_u.s L0_V3_s.me

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Have 2 of these. They are great. Super fast.

Cons: Since 850 series came out the price jumped on these beauties +200 dollars. 850 series are better than 840 and cheaper (currently) but 840 were THE SSD to go to for max speed in it's day (just last year actually.) Things go fast in this industry.

Other Thoughts: Well, if you have one of these--keep them. If you don't,.. go for Samsung 850 series. 850 series offer similar specs but have a tighter and cleaner performance line when measured, and a new V-NAND 3D stacking technology to boot.

5 out of 5 eggsBest SSD I have owned

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Very fast and to date have not had an issue with any of the SSD's I have owned.
I wish I could buy more of them . Currently have a 256 (12 months + ) and a new 512GB one. Neither have skipped a beat and boot times are great.
Samsung has a great app to move your current drive over to an SSD and it works perfectly.
Runs on Windows 7, 8 and 10 preview without any issues.

Cons: more expensive than some of the other ones, but I do trust the pro series based on reviews online.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is worth the money.. especially if you have an older system that needs a boost..
