3 out of 5 eggsThe Good and the Bad

Pros: When I first installed this SSD with Windows 7 X64 it would boot into Windows before the Windows logo squares even completed! I was very impressed. Now it is a bit slower which I contribute to all the Windows upgrades. However my UEFI/Bios takes longer than my SSD boot time.

Cons: The cons of this drive are that just about every other program I have installed on this drive do NOT function properly. I installed Office to it. Every time I opened an Office program it would run the "Preparing Office for First Use" screen. I uninstalled Office and put it on my regular HD, no issues since. Next was Plex Media Server. Every time I ran this program for a second time without a reboot it would either loose connection with my server or say that my ethernet was too slow. A reboot would fix this problem. Again I uninstalled this program too and reinstalled to my regular HD no issues since. I have had many problems with games as well. I was told by Samsung support that it Must Be My Windows Install Being Corrupt. So I reinstalled Windows. Again same problem with other applications. My firmware and Samsung Magician are all up to date. I have so far installed Windows to my SSD a total of Three Times. When I told this to Samsung support the guy essentially called me a Liar by saying "I find that very hard to believe"

Other Thoughts: Samsung has offered to replace this drive with a refurbished one. But they will NOT cross ship. meaning that I have to buy another HD to move Windows onto as my 2TB HD does not have enough room or go with out a computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat addition

Pros: Purchased about a year ago. Easy install, bios recognized it automatically. Haven't had any issues with it and that's all I can ask for. Windows start-up from power off went from 45-55 seconds to 10 seconds, password protected.

Cons: WOW the price of these now! Not sure why but a year ago they were going for half this price after Thanksgiving. Sad I didn't get a bigger capacity now. (NOTE: Price is this high everywhere now, not sure why) Maybe someone from newegg knows?

Other Thoughts: If it's a priority and you do gaming or rendering, great addition. If not, I can't see why it's a priority.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Quick easy setup. It clones your existing operating system. computer much faster than on a regular Hard drive. Its been about 1.5 years and no issues.

Cons: More expensive than HDD,

Other Thoughts: I would buy it again and next one will be samsung too. I bough cheap kingstone after this one and it sucked installing it as it was running in a different mode than the normal hdd or this samsung.

5 out of 5 eggsGotta Like It!

Pros: First SSD and I am liking it! Meant to buy the 850 PRO but got side tracked with buying the "bundled kit" for mitigating the OS from the HDD to the SSD. Just the same this drive is fast and works flawlessly.

Cons: Not the 850 PRO.... LOL!! Not a con on the drives part, just mine.

Other Thoughts: Moving the OS from the HDD to the SSD took all of 20 minutes from GET to GONE. Adjusted the BIOS, then formatted the HDD and turned it into a total storage drive. SSDs get a little cheaper for the large ones and I will be kissing the HDD bye-bye as well.

Boot times are very fast.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst SSD

Pros: Wow! This SSD has worked great since i first got it, installed my OS very fast and makes games run much faster.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: This was my First SSD and it was worth every penny, I've waited a long time before switching over to them and they are worth the money. I bought this a few months before this review

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Works right out of the box, no issues what so ever.
Very quick start up ~10 seconds.
Definitely would buy again.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have gotten a bigger one but the price is still a little too steep for me.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Speeds

Pros: Very fast read/write speeds
Samsung Magician software
Easy installation
Nice build, lightweight

Cons: Migration software is not great (but still works if used right)

Other Thoughts: Not much to it, but you just can't beat the speeds of this SSD at this price!

2 out of 5 eggsBetter than a hard drive

Pros: High read and write speed from the very beginning and hard to go back a hard drive once you buy one.

Cons: The older a file is on the ssd the slower it is to read. It will drop down to 60Mbps transfer speed on larger files, that haven't had data written to them in a while. I'm also not the only person having the issue, there are threads on overclockers, overclockers uk, and reddit. People are recommending to go with a mlc drive such as the 840/850 pro or an intel 730 as these drives are not having issues with slow downs. Though if you stick with the 840 evo it will still run faster than a hard drive but, your os and load times of games and other programs may slow down a bit after a while.

Other Thoughts: If you are on a budget this drive should work out okay for you but if you have the extra money to with the intel 730 or the samsung pro series.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal and value

Pros: Super fast, extremely easy to set up. Instructions were a bit sparse, as others have mentioned, but it was still pretty clear in how to clone my boot drive to this new SSD and swap them out. Cloning took about 4 hours coming from a 250GB 7200rpm Barracuda to this. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit used, boots now to fully up and running in less than 20 seconds, compared to roughly 5 minutes using the 7200rpm traditional HDD. No errors, no problems. After you've swapped your old drive out for this new one, be sure to go into your BIOS the first time you boot up to set this new SSD as your primary boot source.

This was my first SSD, and I couldn't be happier with the result. Definitely recommended for those wanting to enter the SSD realm, but not wanting to drop big money on the larger drives. A nice compromise for first time SSD users.

Cons: Not really a "con", but it should be mentioned that you will need about 20% of free space on the drive you intend to clone before you can clone to the SSD. Had to temporarily move a lot of files from my old drive to an external to free up enough space to do the clone.

Other Thoughts: Great product, very fast, and shipping was fast from Newegg. It's nice living an hour and a half from one of their main distribution hubs :)

5 out of 5 eggsEasiest setup

Pros: I bought a prebuilt pc, and decided to upgrade just a handful of things, one of them being the HD. I plugged in this SSD and used the included software to make this my new boot drive and the process couldnt have been any easier or trouble free. Wonderful performance. 15 sec boot times.

Cons: None that I can think of.
