4 out of 5 eggsFast, but dealing with bios to make it a boot drive.

Pros: Fast, took around 8 seconds to boot up. Installation of windows took around 3-4 minutes.

Cons: When trying to install windows to make it the boot drive, you have to go mess with some boot settings. Others have said that unplugging all your other HDD/SSD drives helps make it easier to know if it is reading it or not.

Other Thoughts: Very pricey for the size of the chip. It's about the size of half a ram stick. But for the speed and Samsung reliability, it is a fantastic purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsMoves data like a shovel moves coal

Pros: Quick, quick, quick. I can't believe this. I went with this one because of some concerns about the stability of the PCI 3.0 version and I have no regrets. Coupled with an i7 6700k @ 4.6 GHz my load times and data transfer rates are lightning fast. I can't wait to see how it changes DCS A-10C once I can hook up my Radeon R9 290 (cable's too short so waiting on a replacement).

Cons: Instructions on installing were a bit "oblique", which is how it describes the way to insert the card. I read that as a vertical angle and they meant a horizontal angle. This caused me to remove the anchor screw, which, for me, was a pain to get back in (it's very small and almost impossible to start with your fingers).
Do yourself a favor and think "flat" as you swing the card into place under the *loosened* screw from the side. That'll save you a lot of distress.

Other Thoughts: As others have stated, make sure to double-check with your motherboard manufacturer's specs re: M.2s that fit the board. I had only two Samsungs to choose from for my Gigabyte Z170XP. These specs can be hard to find so be diligent in your search.

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung XP941

Pros: -Great for a OS Boot Drive.

-Great for a Storage Drive

-Equivalent to 2-3 SATA SSDs in RAID0.

-It is blazing fast and will leave you in awe.

Cons: -Heat. These things can get very hot if they are used to move large amounts of data over time. I purchased some high quality thermal pads and some heat sinks to take care of any heat issues as that will greatly improve its longevity as well.

-Warranty. Buyers need to be aware that this is an OEM product as the manufacturer, Samsung in this case does not and will not be in charge of any RMA's. This is up to the buyer to make sure they include the warranty Newegg sells as I did. I purchased a plan to insure my very premium priced product.

-Price but that is a given since I'm an early adopters to M.2 on the desktop platform but was caught by surprise when I had to fork over more cash just to strap a warranty to this product. I was quite disappointed but after a few benchmarks those feeling went away.

Other Thoughts: For the gamers out there, this drive will decrease your load time substantially. It will make file transfer great as well. Only problem is if you're moving anything from a SATA SSD to a PCI-E SSD, well unfortunately you will be capped to SATA's transfer rates. You're able to see this thing shine when benchmarking, installing and transferring between two PCI-E SSDs.

Again, I will say you won't be disappointed but make sure your MB supports form factor M.2, size 8022 before purchasing.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast performance. Boots on asrock z97.

Pros: Very fast drive. I bought this not knowing when to expect it's successor, the SM951. I have since purchased that as well and am running both the XP941 and SM951 in my asrock z97 extreme6/ac motherboard. The XP941 is very capable, fast, bootable on this motherboard. I recommend moving to the SM951 if your system will support it. Asrock supported it after a bios update to v1.60. I got about 1100MB/s read/write sequential on this drive and about 1700MB/s on the SM951 on same system (same slot apples/apples). Either drive will destroy anything you can plug into a SATA 6gbps interface due to bus limitations. I also have a Samsung evo850 on this system for media storage and it is about 60% the speed of the XP941 and about 35% as fast as the SM951.

Cons: none, get the SM951 if your system will support, it is about 30% faster.

Other Thoughts: Complete system spec: asrock z97 extreme6/ac, evga supernova p2 1000w power supply, 32gb g.skill 2400mhz DDR3 ram (4x8gb), evga 780ti, i7-4790k OC to 4.5ghz, corsair h110 cpu cooler, samsung sm951 512gb m.2 boot drive, samsung xp941 512gb m.2 app/swap drive, samsung evo 850 1tb sata 6gpbs media drive, corsair carbide air 540 case.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than most.

Pros: 1605 MB/s Read 1019 MB/s Write. Definitely performs better than any two SATA drives in RAID 0. No cables. Takes up almost no space.

Cons: $400+, not as fast as NVMe

Other Thoughts: SABERTOOTH X99

3 out of 5 eggsNot as fast as I thought it would be

Pros: Faster than my old 4 drive RAID-5 setup.

Cons: Don't get me wrong, it's a lot faster than my old 4 drive RAID-5 setup, but it's not "BLAZING FAST", at least in my computer. Not worth the money in my opinion. I would have given it 4 eggs, but the price vs. performance isn't there. I could have installed 2 - 512 GB Samsung SSD's in RAID-0 and it would have been a LOT faster than this thing.

Other Thoughts: I have this installed in the ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 motherboard with an Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core CPU.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but I would wait for next Gen

Pros: This is a fast drive.

Works with: 1 x ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Cons: 2 fast SSD in RAID 0 will outperfom this drive. I have 2 x SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) in RAID 0 and it blows this away.

Cost is high considering 2 SDD in RAID zero will outperform.

Requires USB Stick install using UFE BIOS.

Other Thoughts: Wait till Gen 4 then these should rock.

Took one Star off because it did not outperform my RAID 0 Took 1 star for price.

5 out of 5 eggsBlazing fast!

No cables or messing around for installation

Installed as Windows 7 boot drive on ASRock X99 Extreme6 motherboard without having to jump through hoops.

Cons: Costs a lot. OEM drive, as in meant for OEMs so no support for mere humans unless you are a Samsung OEM.

Other Thoughts: Need to choose your motherboard and processor carefully if you don't want to cripple your PCI-e performance for other devices. X99 is a better choice than Z97 if you can afford it. Which, if you are spending $500 on a 512GB SSD you must not be building a low-end computer.

1 out of 5 eggs1 Year Warranty

Pros: Faster that a speeding Bullet.

Cons: 1 Year warranty is sad.
Your better off just running a couple SSD Pro in Raid 0 and getting the same transfer speed and have a 10 year warranty

Other Thoughts: Samsung must not have much faith to have such a poor warranty.
