5 out of 5 eggsEverything I thought it would be

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This SSD is really fast. Samsung Magician says about 2250 mb/sec. Its given new life to my computer. COD Ghosts was shuddering something fierce. I figured I needed to upgrade my GTX 560ti, but thought I should do something about the lengthy load times. Its done more than that by far. My frame rates jumped way up, and everything smoothed out, as if I had upgraded to GTX 780. I'm really taken back by how much of an impact its had on the graphics processing, simply blown away. Diablo 3 multi player would nearly freeze up when the battle really ramped up, and I mean frame rates would tick by like seconds on a watch, there's no way I could keep up with the action. F1 2014 had to be numbed to allow a smooth frame rate. Now, I've maxed out F1 and its silky smooth and beautiful rendering. D3 shows all the action without flinching even for a second. I'm always first through the door waiting on others. COD loads very quick, just a few seconds. I'm usually first in map for capture the flag, and it never hesitates during a fire fight. Its as it I've bought a new graphics card the change is so profound. Don't hesitate to buy one if you've got HDDs, you won't be disappointed. Next stop EVGA GTX780.

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible speed

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This SSD is quick, much faster than my old hdd's. Also, take note that it's much quieter than my 2 hdd's I removed, very much so. The smasung app is great for optimization. I decided to do a fresh install of windows instead of trying to migrate, which you would need a USB adapter.

Cons: If you plan on installing a windows a-fresh, make sure you enter the BIOS/UEFI and change the SETA settings to AHCI. It's under Integrated Periferals. If you install windows in IDE you cannot change it to AHCI. I'm not sure how that impacts the migration software. I learned the hard way, the management software notes that AHCI is disabled... bla bla... less speed. I had to format and reinstall everyting a second time so AHCI was enabled.. although it took half the time to do it again.

Other Thoughts: We'll see how well it does on some of the more demanding games when things really get ramped up. If it's still not enough then it's onto RAID 0.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic SSD just as expected from Samsungs

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: The Migration Utility works great, Samsung is proving they are still going to keep improving NAND Flash Memory and keep their products performance at the very top in every benchmark you ever see.

Cons: People seem to think their Tech Knowledge is above highwhich unfortunately leads to many people buying these without knowing anything about and SSD and usually cant figure ouy how to properly hook thing back up correctly so they say the drie is bad and waant to return it and give it a bad review because they are too clueless to put a SSD into one of your GD bays.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter performance than expected!

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -Read and write speeds are very quick!
-Bundled software works great
-Rapid really does work and showed real world gains in most activities

Cons: -Price?(got this on sale so it was $30 more then most 256gb ssds on the market)

Other Thoughts: This thing makes my old vertex 4 look extremely aged... Truly a night and day difference...

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung 850 Pro 256GB

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Tossed around the merits of the 840 Pro & 850 Pro for quite a while. Deciding factor was the 850 was on sale. Great SSD. Used Macrium Reflect to clone my Vertex 4 128GB. Seamless transfer. The 850 had a noticeable, but not drastic increase in system speed "feel". Benchmarks were substantially higher than the Vertex 4. 10 Year Warranty!

Cons: System was aligned using settings derived from several years previous experience with SSDs. After about two weeks of heavy use, the system was benchmarked. Benchmarks were GREAT. The system was then re-aligned using the Samsung Magician optimization software. After the system was "re-optimized", benchmark software was run again. Benchmarks were down somewhat, but there appeared to be no significant difference in system operation. Not a "real negative".

Other Thoughts: FX-6350
GA-990XA-UD3

Benchmarks using personal system alignment settings:

Anvil Storage Utilities: (100% Incompressible)
2171.19 - 2277.64 - 4448.83
4K Read -> 8859.28 - 34.61
4K Write -> 22793.88 - 89.04

AS-SSD: 367 - 368 - 933
4K Read/Write (MHz) -> 33.98 / 83.68
4K Read/Write (IOPS) -> 8698 / 21421

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung Magician a Must

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Exceedingly fast drive, noticeably faster than the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD that I replaced.

Cons: Sells at a price premium right now, due to the change in manufacturing technology and its status as the fastest SSD yet tested.

Other Thoughts: Important Note: The SSD will run fast, if you just install it, but it will only get the speeds they advertise if you run their Samsung Magician software (easy) and optimize everything for speed. I got about 40% faster benchmark numbers after doing this.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you're contemplating... JUST BUY IT!!!

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast. No additional ANYTHING needed. Swapped out an 840 EVO for this and don't regret it for even a millisecond. As for the price, I just don't see anyone calling this expensive. Especially knocking off an egg for it. This is a brand new drive on the market and when introduced the price was not that far off from the drives it was replacing. Honestly, some people should just be banned from being able to leave reviews of any kind.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: None -I'm waiting for a replacement.

Cons: External drive dock would not power up with drive inserted.
When installed as an internal drive, Sumsung Data Migration failed. When writing an image to the drive, many files & directories were missing.

Other Thoughts: I'm sending the drive back for a replacement.
