Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Solid RAM

Pros: I plugged them in alongside my other single 2GB Ram stick, booted up the computer, and Windows recognized it as well as linux, right off the bat. (Lubuntu 12.04)

Cons: They are a quarter of an inch taller than my first ram stick?

Other Thoughts: I got these to increase windows 7 performance, I originally had only one 2GB ram stick, and these definitely did what I wanted them to. It's interesting, at its idle state, with only 2GB of ram (on a 64bit system) windows used around 512MB of ram.

At it's idle state with 6GB ram, it now uses 2GB just to sit there. I only got a minor performance boost (next is to upgrade my graphics card), so I wonder what windows is putting on the new free space.

5 out of 5 eggsCrucial 4GB (2x4) DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz memory

Pros: Neweggs service, price, and delivery. Own many sticks of Crucial memory. Always runs the first time out. Their site is helpfull, and they seem to know their product.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Had a spirted motherboard that was real picky about memory. Intel DP45SG Extreme series. After a few selections from inventory failed, this memory would run in it, if the modules were from the same lot.

1 out of 5 eggsLied to

Pros: none

Cons: It doesn't work as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I bought this ram because it was "guaranteed" to work in an Intel DP45SG motherboard. I went through several manufacturers to get a working set and never did. I bought this because it was 'guaranteed to to work" and it immediately got 3 beeps and no post. After a few choice words I removed the motherboard from the case and removed the ram and cpu and smashed it with a hammer. I put the motherboard I was trying to replace back in the case and now have 4 gigs of this ram I'll never use. I own a PC repair shop and I buy a lot of ram and Crucial is now on my do not buy list. I will never use Crucial ram or Intel motherboards ever again.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Its RAM! Works perfectly, runs cool, and has the old school RAM look without the completely unnecessary "heat spreaders" which do absolutely nothing but try and dress it up. These already run as cool as can be.

Cons: None.. besides maybe the packaging.

Other Thoughts: Lifetime warranty .. can't go wrong ..

3 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with Gateway SX2800

Pros: Good, cheap RAM - just didn't work with my system for some reason.

Cons: Simply would not work with the Gateway SX2800 motherboard. The specs matched up perfectly with the RAM that came with the system, but when installed, the system would just make a constant beep and would not POST. With a little bit of digging, other Gateway SX2800 owners had the same issue with this particular kit.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was really cool about accepting this return and didn't give me any hassles. It's issues like these that make me a happy Newegg customer!
