Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

2 out of 5 eggsGood when it works

Pros: Works fine when it's working.

Cons: 1 out of 12 sticks was a failure upon purchase. Newegg is sending me replacement.

Other Thoughts: Bad stick was causing fatal error and prevented workstation from booting. Giving low rating because I can buy ram from lots of folks. The least I ask is that it work more than a week.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent. Good Enough.

Pros: It's decent memory. It's not over the top, but then again its DDR3 1333 and its only 100$. With that being said I have had no issues with it at all.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price

Pros: Great ram for a great price! purchased 4 packages of this ram so far and no problems at all.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: NEVER listen to a review from someone that would give any product 1 egg. Remember, incompetence is not an option on tech knowledge, but 1 egg is!

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: got 12GB of this stuff for my SUPERMICRO X8STE
and could not be happier.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: the old supermicro PDSME+ wouldn't work with crucial
memory. i'm glad the two vendors have worked it out and
are getting along nicely again.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problem

Pros: Popped 12 of these sticks in to a Supermicro X8DA3. After reseating one of the sticks, no problem.

Cons: Wouldn't mind easier to open packaging.

Other Thoughts: If you don't see all your RAM on a new build I think the easiest thing to do is to grab a Linux live CD (I used Fedora 11) and install lshw-gui. It can tell you what slots are utilized so you can easily see what slot wasn't detected. Remember, these CPUs won't use a stick in the B slot if the A slot isn't detected. So, it's worth just reseating the A slot if both A and B don't show.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff small price

Pros: RAM was purchased for use with a new ASUS Z8PE-D12X motherboard and 5504 entry level server. Has been running great for the past 3 months. Running several HyperV servers using about 90% of the RAM.

Cons: Price? Just Kidding! :)

5 out of 5 eggsGood Ram

Pros: Bought six sticks and no errors after dozens of individual and group memtests. Great price.

Cons: heat spreaders would be nice

Other Thoughts: If it fails quickly i'll adjust the post.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Decent deal and works as expected.

Cons: Quality control seems a bit lax. Ordered two kits 6 DIMMs in all. One of the DIMMs though had a very small surface mount component that was soldered on incorrectly and thus the DIMM didn't work. Losing a couple of stars for the fact that Crucial didn't catch this. NewEgg RMA process was simple fortunately.
