Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade for the price

Pros: Stable, good speed

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Picked up this kit to upgrade my wife's computer. Memory installed and detected normally. System is used for photo and video editing. RAM has held up flawlessly so far. Only a month of use, but I don't foresee any problems. Went with the fastest memory her system (Asus Essentio) is rated to support. Well worth the price so far.

4 out of 5 eggsRAM is RAM

Pros: 1) good price
2) RAM is always a powerful and quick way to increase speed and productivity on your computer.
3) RAM is RAM (especially if you are not needing ECC FB-DIMMS which are for servers) - By that I mean I don't support 'emperors new RAM' - as long as you know what speed and what voltages are appropriate for your system you should look for the best price.
4) Arrived Quickly and well packaged

Cons: **no cons **
Again --- RAM is RAM

Other Thoughts: Obviously there is an opinion conveyed in my review that I don't believe in 'High-End RAM' (other then what I specified before involving the RAM needed for servers; which is error correcting (ECC), fully buffered, requires full dimm heat-spreaders and is most often more expensive for said reasons. Yes, there is non-server RAM that has heat spreaders (built-in heat sinks) and RAM that can tolerate higher voltages (used generally for overclocking) among other 'high-end' features ----

But for me the difference between your computer going from 4gb to 8gb is exponentially more drastic and empirically observed then the difference between different types of 4gb RAM upgrades.

That is not to say that thermal management isn't extremely important in computers (and for all heat generating devices) --- it is indeed one of the most crucial aspects of maintaining a system. If you have an incredibly small chassis that has little air flow -- you might want to think about RAM with heatsinks --- but for the average consumer -- RAM is RAM is RAM

5 out of 5 eggsReliable memory

Pros: Crucial does not always make the best memory. This kit though is very good choice for an older name brand system. They work without a hitch in a HP DC8000 Elite SFF.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsOk

Pros: It works

Cons: Sometimes it doesnt

Other Thoughts: I build a lot of machines. The last 4 machines I built in the last month I used this memory all worked fine. Today I got a new machine to build and one of the 2 sticks is bad. At least I can still get the system installed and then call newegg tomorrow to get a replacement.

This happens though, so no hard feeling towards Crucial. :-)

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: This ram does exactly what you want it to. You plug it in and it works. It isn't anything fancy with tons of heat sinks and everything, but it's low profile and gets the job done with no problems.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does exactly what's advertised. Works perfectly with no problems.

Cons: Was bigger than I thought, and I was worried that the size made it incompatible, but this was not the case.

Other Thoughts: I'm not really sure I bought this in 2013 when DDR4 is supposed to come out this year. That's not a fault of the product though, that's my fault. I have no great need for DDR4 right away anyway.

Modest appearance, good performance

It's stable and fast enough; Don't let the modest packaging and "lack" of heat spreaders fool you.
