2 out of 5 eggs2.5 years later... dead

Pros: Large capacity for a SSD

Cons: For a $500 drive, it sure didn't last very long!

Other Thoughts: I knew that SSD's had a shorter life, but this death seems a bit premature.

2 out of 5 eggsMine died....

Pros: Great while it worked....BIOS updates are painless, unlike other vendors who have long drawn out update schemes for boot drives....

Cons: After just under 22 months of use, it mysteriously stopped showing up in POST, and being the Boot drive, sorta makes the computer a rather large doorstop. Did the chat support with Crucial (Don't waste your time) and ended up calling them - their servers were down and they said when they come back up, they have some magic way to reset the controller in a non-destructive fashion which has a 98% recovery record.....Let's see if the guy gets back to me when they unbreak their systems.

Other Thoughts: Bought an M4 as a secondary drive - now reconsidering that move.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: These have been awesome. I bought them a year ago for raid 0 and they have been nearly flawless. No degradation, no stutters, nothing. I set them up on Sata II R0 to get better speeds than Sata III, since Sata III didn't have proper raid support -- no fault of Crucial, it's a motherboard thing.

Cons: Not really a con. With all SSD's it's important to update your firmware and set up Windows to treat your SSD's properly to prevent degradation. Many of the problems you see are likely a result of that.
The only con here is price. Two of these were a thousand dollar bomb, and there are cheaper drives available now of better performance. Still, I commend Crucial for these, they were the best at the time and are still treating me well. At this level of performance, "more" becomes irrelevant.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted for a year

Pros: Purchased the drive in summer of 2010. Drive was lightning fast for about a year

Cons: during the last few months areas of the drive have become corrupt and the drive pauses about once every 5 to 10 seconds causing the system to pause.

Other Thoughts: Crucial support is better than others... however they said it would be 8-12 weeks for them to fix this and or give me a new one. They said they would ship me a new drive however they would charge me full price "if" the problem wasn't covered under warranty. I wasn't going to play those games, i purchased a different drive from another company

5 out of 5 eggsPerformance and reliability - you get what you pay for

Pros: I got these units (I own two) for speed and reliability as well as silence. The speed and reliability are unquestionable - my Win7 box boots quickly and w/o any glitches so that I almost forget it's Win7.
The second unit serves as a primary Photoshop cache - it makes Photoshop a true production tool w/o waits for transforms, color changes or puppet wraps.

Cons: Price? Long term reliability? I have owned these units for more than a year, so I'm waiting for the built-in warranty clock to tick over (not really - that's something in Detroit and iStuff, yes?). I expect to use these for a long time - years - and I have gotten my money's worth in a year of fast boots and excellent Photoshop response.

Other Thoughts: I own two of these units - one is my primary boot drive, the other is my primary cache for windows and Photoshop.
I had to buy a separate 6 GB/s interface card (Koutech IO-PESA230) [no problems with this card/and 2 drives, BTW] even though my mobo (ASUS Tigershark) had an on-board 6 GB/s connection that I was using for my SAS array.
I boot off the C300 whenever a reboot is necessary (once in a blue moon) but, or course, keep an HDD multiple clones of my boot drive in various safes (local and at the bank) - paranoids have enemies, too, you know.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

Pros: A really fast drive. It felt that I installed Windows as fast as it took to reboot the machine.

Cons: Still expensive for the size. You're probably going to still want a larger magnetic drive.

Other Thoughts: I find the 2.5" form factor annoying. They still don't fit in standard ATX cases and I'm sure very few people buy these things to slam them into laptops. Although I'll consider this a personal opinion.

1 out of 5 eggsbsod for months then 9 and dead

Pros: faster than light (screw Einstein) with only windows 7 no extras was 30-33 seconds boot, with everything else I use installed (specifically anti-virus) 35-38 seconds.

Cons: Had BSOD for 7 of my 9 months, finally the drive just crashed (not showing in post). When it finally showed back up (leave attached for an hour or so while pc is support advice) my "former" system partition showed as "not initialized".

Other Thoughts: can't rate 0?

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: Fast.

Cons: Firmware.

Other Thoughts: Although I've never had a problem with mine, keep in mind that Crucial has had problems with firmware updates for this drive in the past.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Performance

Pros: Fast access speeds, Fast Windows load times

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Very good drive, one of the fastest I've tested. Scored a 7.9 in the Windows Experience Index for Disk data transfer rate. Installed in my Inspiron 14R N4110.
