Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sticks!

Pros: Fast 1333 Mhz speed, Crucial Quality, Registered ECC, nice heat spreaders.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is NOT "desktop" memory as Newegg says. This is Registered ECC server and workstation memory. I'm using two sticks on a Supermicro H8SCM with an Opteron 4284. Works great!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Price Good Memroy

Pros: Its ram. It was not DOA and I have not had many problems at all with Crucial memory in the past. At $99 each I got 2 to add 16gb to our virtual server.

Cons: None to date.

5 out of 5 eggsregistered ECC memory is server memory

Pros: This is fast memory and it is from one of the best manufacturers out there.

Cons: People who don't know what they are talking about when they see the specifications. Not compatible with desktop boards. This is specifically intended, despite newegg listing it as desktop memory, to be used in workstation or servers in boards such as the Supermicro X8DA3 or Asus Z8PE-D12.

Other Thoughts: The memory under details is clearly listed as being ECC Registered memory. Either the "listed owner" is unable to read or lacks the ability to know the difference between memory modules. This memory is server memory and I own 12 sticks of it. It happens to be very fast and works very well in the EVGA SR-2 motherboard. It does not overclock all that well, but that is a typical characteristic of server memory as it is for data integrity and stability.

3 out of 5 eggsThis is not an ECC Server memory

Pros: Not expensive.

Cons: Why is Newegg putting this desktop memory in Server memeory section. It's not ECC server memory. Two eggs off for misleading product placement.
