1 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: Its small?

Cons: Complete waste of money, Garbage. Shipped with bugged firmware. Makes drive unusable after so many hours. Supposedly can be fixed with firmware update. But you can not update the bugged firmware. Also can not save image of drive, drive will freeze during the process(the bug).

Other Thoughts: Get the Intel if you really want an SSD

1 out of 5 eggsDied After 2 years, RMA is problem

Pros: Worked for 2 years.

Cons: Unreliable after long use. Drive has died after two years (less than 3 that was warranty period). It would boot, OS will work for few hours, then disk i/o errors. Generated bad sectors. RMA process in crucial does not work for this drive. Overall I caution against buying crucial ssd products now.

2 out of 5 eggsIncomplete Mac Support

Pros: Installed in a 2011 15" Macbook Pro.

Great drive while it worked, and it was a fantastic upgrade for my machine. Replaced the SuperDrive with a HD mounting adapter, and had it pretty good for a while.

Cons: After about a 18 months of relatively light use as my main boot drive in the laptop, I started getting beachballs every hour or so. It's a known issue that can be fixed with a firmware update. The firmware was only possible to update a) with an optical drive or b) by booting the machine into Windows.

Option A requires opening the MacBook up, and option B requires going through the gymnastics of installing Windows. Got it done, but ultimately, if Crucial advertises on their site that their products are Mac compatible it's not really true if firmware upgrades for the common case of one replacing their optical drive with a SSD requires some ridiculous work-arounds.

Other Thoughts: Please. Fix this by releasing instructions/utility/anything on how to make a bootable USB stick with the firmware image on it.

1 out of 5 eggsDied within a few months

Pros: Fast fast fast

Cons: Poor reliability... The drive was awesome, but then it failed like so many hours. It would boot, and die after being on for a short while (few minutes to an hours). Very disappointing, going back to standard HD for now.

Other Thoughts: Kind of disappointing... I expected more of Crucial.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Very fast application response and excellent transfer speeds. Superior OS disk with Win 7 64 bit. No platter disks compare my friend.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Some have stated that this drive dies after 5000 hours. I have used this drive day in day out for almost 1.5 years with no problems. Not sure when I will hit 5000 hours...

2 out of 5 eggsSupafast, but only 1 hour at a time.

Pros: Super fast, Boots WIN7p in 17 seconds from post(make sure to set AHCI/Hotplug) For the time that it did run, it was great. 2 eggs

Cons: Died after 9 months. It has now fallen into the common "1 hour cycle" and locks up after that. My usage: 24hrsx30daysx9months=6480hrs, though not on all of this time it still is beyond the noted 5000+hours. These SSD's are not a very good investment when considering the more affordable and rock solid reliability of the Velociraptor 10000rpm drives. Reliability trumps speed any day! Lesson learned.

1 out of 5 eggsMine died too. Support is difficult.

Pros: Fast, decent price.

Cons: Died after 6 months.

Other Thoughts: looks like the failures are starting to show. Still has 5 eggs though. I wouldn't give only 1 egg if support wasn't so difficult. took a little looking but found online chat with support (no waiting) and they want me to do some crazy power cycle procedure... at least twice to try and revive the drive. then of course check and download latest firmware. WTH. I had a Mushkin go bad a few months ago and they issued RMA through email quickly, no problem. I support some 50 users and don't have time for this nonsense. Bought an expensive Cis** router last month and the firewall features weren't working. Had to update firmware. Why do they continue to sell and ship products that require so much effort. These aren't little problems and should be fixed before product ships.

1 out of 5 eggs8 months and dead

Pros: Cheap, fast and worked well until it died

Cons: Only lasted 8 months. PC would crash and come up that it could not read drive. Hard boot would get me back online for about 10min-20min. I imaged the drive during this time. I replaced the drive with a spare 64gig SSD and put the image from the defective drive on it. Issue resolved for a week now.

Other Thoughts: I will update this if Crucial makes this RMA easy. So far it has not been since they are not letting me complete this online without talking to tech support.
