5 out of 5 eggsAwesome memory

Pros: Fantastic memory. Has some room for overclocking (XMP etc.) The real appeal of this is the visuals though. I ordered 3 of these, combining with my old RAM to total 18GB, and man is this a huge difference. Most computers won't need this much memory, but from the multitasking and editing I do, I was happy to break my old ceiling of 6GB straight into the sky. There are various light settings, and patterns to choose from, and it goes well with my set up. The lights generally are affected by access and RAM usage, which makes things interesting.

Cons: Not enough customization settings... I wish you could have different "scenarios" or triggers for the various color and pattern settings (such as utilization %s etc.)

Other Thoughts: This isn't Cruicial's fault, but why did my order take 15 (!!!!) DAYS TO GET HERE!!!! It's not like I live in Hawaii. I ordered some coolant from a nobody company and got it the next day, and for the same shipping price, yet from Newegg it took over two weeks for this purchase? I'm furious, and probably looking elsewhere in the future.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very bright LEDs in blue and orange colors.
Two separate zones for color.
Several different brightness and illumination profiles to select one you download the software for it.

Cons: While the profiles are a very nice thing to have, it's very hard to have the LEDs in unison.

There is no setting to keep the LEDs on without a flashing pattern.

Other Thoughts: A "breathing" pattern for the LEDs would be an excellent addition.

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions on the LEDs! We always appreciate our customers comments and ways to improve our products. If you have more questions or suggestions please make more comments on our forums at forum.crucial.com.

Crucial

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Memory!

Pros: - I have three of these running at 1750MHz 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65V, and they have been flawless. (I run at 1.65V because my older memory that is also installed requires it)
- The modules have Blue and Orange LEDs (see other thoughts)
- The brightness and LED pattern can be changed using the MOD utility

Cons: Potentially, the heat spreaders could be too high if you have a CPU cooler or something that is right over the memory banks. These heat spreaders aren't excessively tall, however; they just barely come above the PCB.

Other Thoughts: Each memory module comes with:
-Running LEDs
-Activity LEDs.
The Running LEDs glow underneath the module, and the Activity LEDs blink along the top of the module between the two heat spreaders. The Activity LEDs react to load. If the computer is mostly idle, the activity is slow; if the computer is accessing the memory aggressively, the activity is fast.
When I first installed the memory modules, they were factory set to have Blue running LEDs and Blue activity LEDs.
The LED pattern, brightness, and color are set using the Ballistix MOD utility. This utility allows you set each memory module independently (if you have more than one module).

The pattern options are:
-Stereo: the activity LEDs blink rapidly and are dim when mostly idle; the intensity increases when the memory is accessed more
-Inside Out: the activity LEDs activate near the center and then travel outward; the travel speed increases when the memory is accessed more.
-Lava: this pattern is similar to Inside Out, but it is more aggressive. The LEDs also create an effect that looks like the module is filling and then starting over; the speed increases when the memory is accessed more.
-Streamer: the activity LEDs light up such that it appears there is a line of LEDs traveling from the bottom of the motherboard to the top; the travel speed increases when the memory is accessed more.

The brightness of the LEDs can be dimmed pretty low if needed.
On each module, the running LEDs can be set to either Blue or Orange. Also, the Activity LEDs can be set to either Blue or Orange. Each module can only have its Activity LEDs set to either Blue or Orange; it cannot be set to blink both colors. The Running LEDs can be set to the opposite color of the Activity LEDs if desired, though.

I currently have three of these Ballistix Tactical Tracers paired with three older Ballistix Tracer modules that I already had in my X58 system. I have these set to have blue running LEDs and blue activity LEDs. This has a nice look paired with my older Ballistix Tracer modules with red LEDs.
I really like this memory
A computer has to have blinking lights doesn't it?

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointig but looks pretty

Pros: The led's were very nice feature, With the ballistix software you could change the led pattern on the dimms to any brightness or pattern you want.

Cons: Died after 2 days of use, made me think my intel solid states were bad as i couldn't even install windows.
2 dimms not sure if both went bad or just 1 but i won't buy crucial again more then likely.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsplays nice

Pros: - works well with others
- team player
- expedient in all tasks assigned
- high potential

Cons: - likes to outshine others

Other Thoughts: i installed this in a rig with some already existing g. skill with 7-8-7-24 timing and set the timing for all sticks to the Crucial Tracer defaults (8-8-8-24) and all ram popped up and worked great without a hitch.. looks great to boot!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice! Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB DDR3 1600

Pros: These are excellent! The 8-8-8-24 fast timings allow them perform at the same level as the 1866Mhz version that has the slower 9-9-9-27 timings. Windows 8 WEI measures 8.2 for this RAM. 1.5 volts is nice, too.

The LED lighting is very nice, but I like the MOD utility that lets you monitor temperature and settings, as well as configure a thermal shutdown if desired. These are fairly low-profile, too. I'm running in (4x4GB) configuration, and the temperature is a consistent 34 degrees C.

Cons: Little bit snug getting them into the memory slots... be very careful to make sure to fully seat them.

Other Thoughts: Outperformed expectations. I thought these would be average and they turned out to be excellent (and fast)

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: this ram is affordable and works very well and it looks great while doing it. it stays a good cool temperature. the MOD feature is handy letting you control the color, brightness, and patter of the lights and also giving you a temperature gadget. not my first time buying crucial ballistix tracer memory and it wont me my last. bought an older version for my last build and even it is still going strong and flashy years later. and the orange and blue just happens to match my build colors.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: BUY IT!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: this is beautiful memory. the cas speeds are good and it is very resonably priced, the fins are great at cooling but really if your buying this memory its for the flash and i have to say it won't let you down!

Cons: outa stock frequently?

Other Thoughts: crusial makes great memory and i held off on a build just for this memory to get in stock so my client would get exactly what he desired.

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME

Pros: This ram not only looks good but works great too. Blue LEDs are bright and with the M.O.D. utility they are able to be customized, not only brightness but pattern and you can swtch them to orange also. You can also turn off the lights but who would do that!

Cons: Avalibility. Crucial has the Red/Green in dual channel kits but not the Orange/Blue? Also when I ordered I had to do 2 seperate orders to get 2 sticks one from CA and one from NJ
