5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: This drive promises fast I/O and it delivers - write speeds are "OK" for an SSD - still blazingly fast and this drive shines where it counts - which is peak I/O performance.

Cons: It's a laptop drive - so if you want to use it in a desktop you need a tray to put it in. It's only 256 GB

Other Thoughts: If you are using this as an OS drive in a desktop and you don't use hibernation - you can save a ton of space by turning hybernation off (windows related - do a google search for the commands).

I would move the page file if you have another drive - to save room as well - at the price per gig SSD's still cost - it's just not worth it to keep junk on the drive you don't need

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Customer Service

Pros: It could be fast based on other reviews, but I haven't been able to find out.

Cons: Bad customer service.

Other Thoughts: After trying multiple times to clone the hard drive, contacting customer support and then following their advice I was unable to switch to the new hard drive because it wont transfer the OS properly. I am running Windows 8 and was skeptical because I wasn't certain that the cloning software would work. After being assured by representatives at Crucial that the cloning would work fine, I decided to order the hard drive. I tried cloning softwares that included the one given with the device EZGIG IV and downloads of other softwares such as HDClone. Crucial replied to my complaints about the cloning softwares that I had been using by telling me I was doing it wrong. That is it. No help to clone or anything, they simply said try more of the softwares again. Thanks Crucial. None of them worked and I was then told I would have to make a factory image of Windows 8 and just have a fresh start by people at both Staples and Best Buy who said they didn't know of working cloning softwares. I hope to add in more pros after I complete this process with the new SSD installed, but I will likely not up my review from 1 egg due to all of the headaches this hard drive and Crucial caused. I would suggest buying a different SSD for a similar price.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Transfer software and device worked great, couldn't be easier, took about 3 hours to transfer. went to youtube to find out how to actually replace the drive in my HP laptop. Very easy if you take your time. My core i5 laptop runs very fast now, boots into full working windows in about 45 seconds.

Cons: I wish it was half this much money

Other Thoughts: get it, it's good.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: -Large drive for a decent price
-Working cloning kit
-Easy to install
-Incredibly fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This solid state drive is incredibly fast once set up, and the cloning software and cable included work perfectly. It only took me 45 minutes to clone my entire hard drive to the new drive. The speed in comparison to a mechanical drive is ridiculous...I went from an average start up time of 75 seconds, to 17 seconds from the time I press power to the time I'm logged in. I'll never another mechanical drive again other than for backup and storage. I lucked out and got this while it was down to $180 as opposed to $250 the next morning, but this is money I would've invested either way. Definitely a great buy, no regrets.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have 2 of these in raid 0 and I get transfer rates around 900 mb/s. everything flies and there's plenty of space for most people.

Cons: I found them for $150 each so 200 still a little steep IMO

5 out of 5 eggsAn excellent product

Pros: Great real world performance and ultra reliable. Easily one of the best SSDs on the market.

Cons: Not as fast sequentially as some of the newer products even though it won't be noticed in day to day desktop performance.

Other Thoughts: Got one of these for my girlfriend's laptop, decided on the 7mm version in case she gets a newer (ie thinner) laptop in the near future. Kicks the snot out of any mechanical laptop drive. If you need more storage just take your old drive and put it into a caddy and replace the optical drive with it. Then you have storage and speed. Also have a 128GB M4 as the boot drive in my desktop, would never bother with a mechanical hard drive ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks in the Desktop

Pros: I bought this for my s/o for her desktop before realizing it was for laptops. But she has a "ICY DOCK MB882SP-1S-1B 2.5" to 3.5" SATA 6Gb SSD & Hard Drive Converter / Adapter / Bracket -Black" and it worked perfectly! See Annie's review of the above.

Cons: None! Just wish it was a terabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsCrucial M4 Kit

Pros: I have worked on computers for 20+ years and have spent over 30K here at NewEgg.
My recent purchase was this SSD Kit by Crucial and the experiece of cloning an existing HDD was acceptable.
Not often do programs run as advertised. The whole process was very straight forward and only took 20 minutes to clone 50 Gb worth of OS and game related items.
Rebooted the PC with the new drive with no issues.
Will definetely buy again!

Cons: No Cons. All Pros!
