2 out of 5 eggsSame type scenario , dead stick

Pros: Well , it seems to be pretty quick memory ...

Cons: After receiving the memory it was very apparent that something was wrong. System wouldn't even go into the bios. One stick was bad. So while i was reading some of the reviews i came across a number for customer service. I called and tried the cross shipping method. Pffftt, never again. They bill your account first(over 40 bucks with tax for one stick)and then send you the ram while you send the defective back. That is NOT good customer service! Yeah i got the money reimbursed but there's really no reason to do it you live near a retailer who sells ram. Just send the defective stuff back and go buy it from a retailer and do a price match. If you need it sooner then later. And what if the replacement is bad?
They should just ship out the ram to you with a credit card on file in case you don't ship. You should be receiving a good product to begin with. It felt like i was the one in the wrong. It's only one friggin stick!
Bye Bye Crucial Memory

Other Thoughts: Crucial has got alot of stake in the memory business thanks to an early push and some kudos from various media outlets. Not sure why there's so much defective stuff.

3 out of 5 eggsNice looking RAM

Pros: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB sticks of Ram look very nice.
They were easy to put and and work well.

After running a diagnostics the results came back defective.

1 out of 5 eggsOne stick worked OK.

Pros: 1 - Cheap RAM.
2- Found out it was defective within the return period?

Cons: One stick was defective. Read other reviews/ comments--seems to be a pattern.

Other Thoughts: Computer would randomly detect 4 GB of RAM, then at other times the full 8 GB. Did a memtest scan, one stick had sky-high error rates. Guess I'll stick with Corsair.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWould have been great only if......

Pros: None

Cons: 1 of the 2 sticks worked........Never had an issue with ram until now i guess it officially means that i will never buy this brand again.

I am normally a G-Skil, Corsair, and if all else fails kingston. Thought i would give it a try.

I was building a computer for my wife to use for school and shee needed it asap so i cant RMA the ram so I am stuck with it.

Originally thought it was the board so i got the ball moving on that fron but thought at the last minute to change out the ram. I am glad i did that because 1 was bad. My wife is happy with her new computer and that is all that maters. I will never buy this brad again though.

Other Thoughts: If interested buy more then one stick that way you have better chances of geting at least 1 to work.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice for the Price

Pros: So far everything's working great. The computer booted fine, and everything appears to be working.
-Low Profile
-Decent Speed
-Very nice looking
-It worked

Cons: It would've been nice if the clock speed was higher, but at this pricing, that's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: I got this RAM at a brick & mortar retailer for less, and that takes the value from "good" to extraordinary.

2 out of 5 eggsHalf right, half wrong

Pros: The one 4G that works works just fine.

Cons: One of the sticks didn't work, but it took about three months to figure out that was the cause of my operating system install failures... I had no computer to test, so that was a pain. By the time I figured it out, I didn't have the packaging or anything, so I'm just living with 4G for now until a later date.

Other Thoughts: Anybody know what to do with a broken memory stick that's not even heavy enough to be a paperweight? :P

Manufacturer Response:

Yes, that would make a terrible paperweight! - Please contact our support at 1-800-336-8896 or use one of our on-line support options at http://www.crucial.com/help/, we can arrange a RMA or help troubleshoot if possible. We offer options to cross ship (CC required) so we can ship you a package that you can use to return the product to us if necessary.

Crucial

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: +Low Profile
+Reasonably Fast (for it's price)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Normally I'm a Corsair guy, had some bad luck with them recently so a buddy suggested Crucial. I was mostly attracted to this set because of it's lower profile- A lot of other chips have tall heat spreaders that would interfere with installation of an aftermarket CPU cooler.
