1 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: - Cheap

Cons: - Does not perform at spec. See Other for more information.

Other Thoughts: I've been out of the loop on a new pc build in almost 8 years. My old dual core was still serving me well, but I did want to finally upgrade to a newer system to take advantage of the new video cards out there. I built an MSI Z87-GD45 gaming MB with a GeForce GTX 960 2GB and Pentium/Celeron 3.2GHz Dual core. I have no intentions of overclocking the system, but wanted something that was rated above standard spec in hopes that it would be stable in the long run.

I installed a dual boot of XP 32-bit and 7 64-bit. I would get random crashes and errors of explorer.exe crashing and other programs. I checked the CPU temperature and all was OK. About 40-50C on average with the stock cooler. I forced the fans (including the video card) to the max speed to rule out any overheating issues and I purchased a SeaSonic Gold series 850 watt PSU. Way overrated for what I need, but I wanted something with a long warranty and a long line of reliability.

Memtest and Windows Memory Diagnostic didn't show any specific failures but after I underclocked this RAM to 1400 and relaxed the timings to 11-11-11-27 I have not seen any problems since.

Because I am not after extreme performance or speed, the underclocking hasn't caused me any huge speed loses, but this is still unacceptable. I used to buy Corasir back in the day, but I heard lots of good things about Crucial. Never again will I buy from them and as cheap as the RAM is now it's a waste of my time to RMA it and pay shipping to send it back and possibly get another dud. It appears this is an issue with this RAM by reading the reviews. Normally, I would ignore most of these types of reviews because it's hard to tell if the user was overclocking the RAM... but it appears the users were right this time around!

1 out of 5 eggsNeeded to submit RMA

Pros: none

Cons: Installed in a Windows 10 PC after logging on PC would reboot. Installed original 8GM RAM in PC and worked fine.

Other Thoughts: Submitted an RMA to get this replaced. Maybe next one will be better. Looking at other reviews this seems to be a common problem with this SDRAM

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: -Arrived sooner than expected.
-Newegg customer service was great as always.

Cons: -After receiving the RAM I cleared CMOS and booted using XMP settings. In a fresh install of Windows the RAM appeared to be causing stability issues as it would hard lock and BSOD with codes usually attributed to RAM issues. As the RAM was the only component I had changed recently, I had a hunch it was the problem. I was able to replicated the instability multiple times under moderate load. Confirmed RAM as the culprit after swapping in the old RAM and the issues went away.

3 out of 5 eggsOK for the price

Pros: Good shipping

Cons: Made by Micron...will not boot with DDR3 made by same manufacturer....will not run at 1600....only 1333.. Actually have 8gbs made by Micron and works great.....install these sticks and bios just hangs. Set speed to 1333 and will boot with just these two...but no other mem installed. Set to 1600 ( default) and get blue screen with any load . Gigabyte MB works great with any other Mem.

Other Thoughts: Figured would load MB to max with this mem....seems to work great with the same sticks at 1333.

1 out of 5 eggsReturned

Pros: Looked nice.

Cons: Would crash computer with a critical error after about 15 minutes of a heavy load, such as game play. Tested on 2 computers. Seems defective. Reinstalled original factory ram and problem was solved thus pointing towards the newly purchased ram.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware memtest86 showed no errors but one of my sticks was still bad....

Pros: Nicely priced RAM.

Cons: Only ones stick worked and memtest86 didnt show there being any errors.

Other Thoughts: Someone else on here wrote a similar review to mines. I purchased the ram for a server that I was setting up in my house. I started noticing that the computer was having weird problems like freezing and restarting for no reason. After hours of troubleshooting I was able to determine that one of sticks was bad. Memtest86 did not show any errors. The only reason why I was able to determine that the stick was bad was because I placed the stick that I was suspicious of in my other desktop machine and that machine started getting blue screens and restarting. The problem is very hard to diagnose. Especially if you only have one computer.

I saw that someone else on here posted a similar review to mines. Memtest86 showed no errors, but the RAM was causing random restarts and system crashes.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very simple look, a rather fast speed for ddr3 ram, and works as soon as you plug them in.

Cons: only one con, the shipping was three days late, when I chose the super egg saver, something went wrong at the post office.

Other Thoughts: very good product, I've had these sticks for around 8 months no problems.
