3 out of 5 eggsgreat memory....NOT FOR INTEL

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: i have a 2 sets of the 1600mhz and a friend is running the 2 sets of 1866.....had both sets for over a year.....both sets stay cool without a fan even overclocked....LEDS stay bright even after hours of use with them on the brights settings....they are stable and run great if the motherboard likes them.....

Cons: NOT FOR INTEL BOARDS NEWER THEN A the 3 series of intel CPU's/....IF ITS A 4 digit code starting with a 3 (like the 3930k or a 4690k or a 3570k) IT WILL NOT WORK i have tried them with these CPU's....they would have looked KILLER IN ALL THESE RIGS

Other Thoughts: GREAT STICKS.........AS LONG as you have AMD.....i have a phenom 555 unlocked to a quad core on a 970 motherboard with 4x2gb of these......friend is running a 990 motherboard with 8350 8 core with 2 of these sets.....4x4gb for 16gb total at 1866.....both sets run fine and look great.....HAVE NO FEAR IF YOU HAVE AMD.......dont get for new intel boards....unless it says it in the manual for your motherboard.....

5 out of 5 eggsGood value, cops would like the LEDs :)

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Price & speed

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Used on a value server build with WHS 2011.

The blue flashing LEDs would be bothersome if the case was in use where they could be seen. SInce this is a server, it's not an issue.

Pros: All four work perfect in my ASUS Maximus V Formula, it just looks so beautiful on the mobo, but you do have to go into the Bios and change it to 1866 and timing if have to,

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm so glade I went with crucIal Ballistix Tactical Tracers!

2 out of 5 eggsBe Wary

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Looks, advertised performance

Cons: My system did not like it. Would BSOD with Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H Motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Was pretty sure ram is ram is ram, but my system did not like this ram. This caused me to check the QVL (qualified vendors list) from Gigabyte, and sure enough this ram wasn't on the list. I bought some Corsair Vengeance ram and no BSODs. Who checks the QVL anyways?!

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks for your feedback. Your configuration will be sent to our compatibilty team so we can confirm this in our Crucial Memory Adivisor.

This chipset (Z87) should work fine with these modules so it's possible there is something else going on. Please contact us directly at 1-80-336-8896 (Option #2) and we will assist with troubleshooting or an RMA if needed. Your system configuation details are valuable to us as we strive for wide compatibility across many platforms and to ensure accuracy in our compatibility tools.

Regards,
Crucial

5 out of 5 eggsFlashy and speedy

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Competitive pricing
Pretty well profiled (between medium and low)
Recognized instantly

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Recognized instantly on ASRock FM2A85X-ITX motherboard. Was set at 1333 but switched up to 1866 through BIOS and works like a champ. The lights are new to me on memory, as I thought that this was a fan or a case thing. Never thought to think that RAM could light up as well. My system includes A10-5800K inside of a CM Elite 120 case

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Love the color and activity that is shown, highly customzible with the ballistix software. Great quality. Speed is on par with other modules in same price range.

Cons: The highest density is 4 GB, wish they would make them in 8 GB density.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend a see thru case or side panel to fully enjoy these electrionic wonders.

5 out of 5 eggsActually Pretty Cool

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Surprisingly low profile. LED's are very cool. M.O.D. utility provides thermal monitoring and customization.

Cons: Not available in 8GB size

Other Thoughts: Thought these would be dorky but they are, in a strange way, kind of professional looking. Would buy again.

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: to how amazing these can make your build look.

-both colors of the LEDs look awesome, the orange in particular
-I don't even use my computer anymore, I just turn on a RAM intensive program and watch the light show.

Cons: nothing that I can think of
