5 out of 5 eggsLED lights go bad after 2years

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: ok first off i dont have this set i have 2 of the 2x2gb sets of the 1600mhz with the SAME blue and orange like these......memory is great NEVER had any problems with it running as memory at its speed......overclocks nice...... MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE ONLY REASON YOU WILL BUY THEM!!!!!! keep reading......all of it

Cons: 2 years of running GREAT with them set on blue for both the bottom and top sets of lights.....not even set all the way to high because they are VERY bright..... i now have one stick with BOTH the blue and orange going at the same time across the WHOLE top row of lights.....i now have one stick of purplish pink with 3 sticks of blue......i dont want orange i got the set for BLUE......still bet 5 bucks the guy that made them was a gators fan!!! because who makes orange led fans??? .......going to call crucial on monday and see what they can do.......its turkey day and the nepfews were laughing at me because of the cool change i did not see until today

Other Thoughts: i all so must add im not a normal user......i have over 2500 hours on these sticks in the 2 years i have had them......never had the temp widgit in the crucial software say any of the sticks ever got over 92f for the MAX temp EVER......most users my upgrade their systems before they put 2500 hours on these.....ALL SO MUST ADD my set is NO LONGER MADE........BUT and its a BIG but.....they are still using the SAME LEDS on the new sticks as the old ones.....a friend got the same set list HERE and i was the one that built his rigs......i put the 2 side by side wanting to what they changed because when i got mine they were on close out for 16 bucks for a set of 2x2gb(8gb of 1600mhz for 32 bucks do that now!!).....most people in the post for mine said they did not work with intel boards past the 59 series that is why they cleared them out......SAME LEDS ON THESE STICKS AS MINE they just changed the memory on the board....i cant believe they are 104 for 8gb but they are faster then my set

5 out of 5 eggsHypnotized

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: I didn't intend to order these, I wanted black heat sinks and these caught my eye. Boy am I glad I did. I'm not the flashy kind, none of my fans use LEDs, but these are worth the price. I would definitely order these again for the extra $$. Oh yeah, they work too ! :D

Cons: I can't buy them with Monopoly money

Other Thoughts: Get these and have some fun.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: - I bought this ram back in 2012 and has been used everyday since without a hiccup or issue.
- At the time, it was almost 1/3 the price it is now(i picked it up on a shell shocker deal).

Cons: - Had to take a double take at the price it is currently.
- Had to manually set up the timing and speed in bios (not a big issue at all with my Asus Sabertooth).

Other Thoughts: I was about to upgrade to 16gb and purchase another 8GB but at this price, i'll make due with 8. At the price of ram now, you can't go wrong with this ram. Right now seems like an awkward time for PC builders, an 8-core processor that can run at 4ghz is only marginally more expensive than 8gb of ram...crazy.

5 out of 5 eggsBest memory if ever had

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Using a old z68 board. Plug n play all the way.
Regards to the advertised latency. Some at crucial was being modest, 100% stable using a 103 clk with 1937mhz timing at 8-8-8-24. I bought this for the pretty light but the performance made me forget about that.

Cons: Only con I have is makes my friends jealous and not like my tower anymore

Pros: These things look beautiful in my case. The RAM itself is speedy and works just fine.

Cons: None that I've encountered.

Other Thoughts: The software to control the lighting is minimal, but it gets the job done.

5 out of 5 eggsThese Things Are AWESOME!

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Orange/Blue Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1869DT2TXOB

Pros: Look up a Youtube video of these bad boys. They make any case look 10 times more awesome. it's just...I don't even know what to say. It's amazing that something so simple gets me so excited, but it totally does.

I would recommend these on ANY computer with a window, or holes, or any way to see these. They're amazing.

Cons: For some reason they defaulted to 1333 on my board, and while the would post at 1866 without issue, I couldn't overclock beyond that without getting error, even with relaxed timings.

I wish I could pull 2133 out of it, but I can't hold it against them if they don't pull it off. So I won't.

Other Thoughts: The speed at which the lights flicker is based off of the CPU load at any given time, and because of that, it actually makes diagnosing the PC much, much easier.

It used to take me upwards of a minute to five minutes to completely be sure whether my computer was just loading something very large, and needed some time to work, or if it just froze entirely. There's a specific speed at which the lights will move if it's frozen, and I know immediately.

On the other hand, if the screen stops responding, but the lights keep moving at the same speed or go faster, I know that it's just doing something that's going to take a little time. it's made things like overclocking and installing certain drivers and firmware a bit less arduous.

Pros: Very cool with the Blue/orange LEDs

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: finally figured out the right settings on my Asus Sabortooth AM3+ to geet it to run at 1866 :)
